Noise reduction windows
Comments (0)Hi. I'd be grateful for any information/advice anyone can give me. We live in an older house in a flight path and are looking to replace our windows to aid in noise reduction. I have been doing some research and have a few questions. It looks as though the best measure of sound-blocking performance with regard to aircraft noice would be the OITC (as opposed to the STC). What is a significant (ie noticeable) difference in OITC (1, 5, 10?)? Is there a simple rule of thumb to how much of a decibel reduction is provided by a certain OITC? Finally, any idea what the OITC of old-school single pane aluminum frame windows would be? Thanks in advance. I'd also appreciate any comments from anyone who has dealt with similar issues....See MoreLaminated storm window for noise reduction
Comments (1)All noise? No, that is very difficult and expensive. It should help somewhat - possibly a great deal. But first I would be sure that your current windows are tight. Laminated glass is used in airports and sound studios for the same purpose......See MoreNoise reduction windows in Taiwan

Comments (25)@DK Haas ... While oleander happens to be poisonous, your comments about it are bonafide alarmism, I'm merely pointing out the TRUE fact that people and animals don't suffer ill effects of it because they don't eat it. The number of deaths per year from Oleander, averaged out, don't even add up to 1 in spite of the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of the plants commonly situated in populated areas in warm parts of the country ... and many more millions around the globe. It literally is about the last thing a person needs to worry about. A person is more likely to die from licking a frog....See Morekudzu9
