Cabinet Hardware Horizontal or Cup Pulls?
Comments (6)I love theanimala's kitchen. Thanks for showing it again! I love the horizontal pulls myself, but they seem ergonomically strange to me to have them on cabs that swing open to one side. I'm planning on horizontal like above on the drawers and cabs that pull straight out (trash cab) and then putting the pulls vertical on cabs that swing to one side. The long vertical element will alredy be introduced in the fridge doors. Is that an option for you? Maybe you could ask Theanimala how her cabs are holding up? I've seen several kitchen lately with the combo of the three you described. From the pictures, it seems slightly too much for me, but I'm more into simpler, cleaner lines. I haven't had knobs on cabs in many years, but I remember moving into this house with pulls and realizing how much easier it was to open cabs as there is more surface area to grab than a knob. Great chandy, BTW. What's the source?...See MorePulls vertical or horizontal?
Comments (4)Use google to search with the word gardenweb and other words such as pull size, pull location, horizontal, vertical etc and you will get lots of info. One of the popular and inspirational kitchens on gardenweb belongs to breezygirl. I linked one of her posts here Breezy's kitchen- all horizontal pulls In another post Breezy listed the sizes she used for the various door or drawer widths. These are her words " I did all pulls in my kitchen also. I don't like the look of two small pulls on wide drawers so I looked for pulls that came in multiple sizes including an 8". I aimed to size pulls on various drawer stacks following the rule of thirds or the Golden Mean, roughly translated into the pull covering the middle third of the drawer front with one-third of the drawer visible on each side of the pull. After my pull order arrived, I walked around with the various sizes and held them up on my cabs to see what looked best. I ordered a couple dozen extra of each size pull to give myself flexibility. So I ended up with this:" Drawers 30-38" wide stacks have 8" pulls 18-24" stacks have 6" pulls 17" drawers have 4" pulls Cabs (very few) all pulls are horizontal on cabs 11" doors have 4" pulls 15" doors have 6" pulls...See MoreHorizontal pulls on doors?
Comments (5)Strangely, in my kitchen (which I bought used) the handles are both ways and it's a complete nonissue.... That being said I would not like a large handle in the center of the cabinet such as in the picture you have attached because you would not know whether you're pulling it from the right or the left. My handles are all distinctly on one side or the other so it's very clear which direction you pull the door to open....See MoreQuestion on Medallion Cabinets Base Spice Pull Out Cabinet
Comments (1)Usually 6" spice pullouts have a "filler overlay" which is just flat slab with eased profile edges. You might be able to order a drawer front turned vertically. Or see if they can order a special piece in their custom appliance panel form. The slab design is standard. Check with your designer....See Moreblfenton
