I couldn't believe you saved all that! Kind of funny to read now. And, no, I didn't come home in fig leaves.
I did, however, get questioned at the airport about all the individually wrapped glass jars from Penzey's........
I told them they were free to unwrap them if they wanted. Showed them the one glass jar (unwrapped) in my mom's bag and I guess I didn't look like a terrorist......they let me on the plane.

Jessica's recipe is delicious, we got a jar, too! A friend has a fig tree with green figs, she gave me a bag of them but they are not the same as the ones in Jessica's recipe, not even close! Great recipe!

It was soooo good in PBJ's last night. Like eating giant gourmet fig newtons for dinner!! The peanut butter was a nice flavor with the fig. But I gotta make it last.....
We slurped up almost half pint last night. It just can't be gone in 24 hours!!! NOooooooo! :+)

This jam sounds fabulous!

Deanna, I love Barefoot Contessa's Jam Thumbprints - made these for giveaways last year with blackberry preserves...they would be wonderful with Vanilla Fig jam! Yum!

Jam Thumbprints
Copyright 2002, Barefoot Contessa Family Style, All rights reserved

3/4 pound (3 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash
7 ounces sweetened flaked coconut
Raspberry and/or apricot jam

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter and sugar until just combined, and then add the vanilla. Separately, sift together the flour and salt. With the mixer on low speed, add the flour mixture to the creamed butter and sugar. Mix until the dough starts to come together. Dump on a floured board and roll together into a flat disk. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.

Roll the dough into 1 1/4-inch balls. (If you have a scale, they should each weigh 1-ounce.) Dip each ball into the egg wash and then roll it in coconut. Place the balls on an ungreased cookie sheet and press a light indentation into the top of each with your finger. Drop 1/4 teaspoon of jam into each indentation. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the coconut is a golden brown. Cool and serve.

Thanks! Looks perfect! I may omit the coconut...I'm not sure I want to add any additional flavors. Or maybe some with/some without.
