Treadmill company finally calls....

My treadmill broke last Spring and I've been trying ever since to get it fixed. After calling and e-mailing I finally got someone to call me back and they e-mailed me a troubleshooting paper. I couldn't make heads or tails out of it so I called a local repairman who doesn't normally work on treadmills and he came to take a look at it.

He told me what it was that I needed and tried to call the company too, I e-mailed and called over and over again leaving message after message. I almost gave up on it. But the other day, I don't know what got into me, I called them and left a really nasty message on their answering machine. Well, they called me today. Ordered my part for me and appologized. It's on backorder till the end of the month so it will be awhile but it may eventually get fixed. I was hoping they'd give me the part free since it was their crappy product that broke and I had to wait nearly a year to get help, but that didn't happen. I will never buy from this company again.

I'm just hoping they do send the part and it gets fixed. Hopefully, it'll last a year or two and I can save for a better one.

We bought a treadmill earlier this year because ours of about 7 years finally died. The new one broke in about a week--we called and got a new part in about 3 weeks. I wasn't too impressed that it broke so soon but so far it is working okay. My daughter puts about 7 miles a day on it. I hope yours works just fine when you finally get the part. The old one we had was a Pro-Form--I think. The new one is a Nordic Track.

In 2005, I bought a high-end Nordic Track. It worked great until a few months ago, then it would just shut off after a minute or two. Fortunately, I had a maintenance contract on it. They sent a serviceman out--he said the motor went out. He came back to put in a new motor. It still didn't work, so he had to come back two weeks later and replace the motherboard, or whatever it was called. It still shut off.

He called the factory. The verdict: the treadmill is on the lower level, where we have ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets. Apparently, you aren't supposed to use treadmills on GFCI outlets. We were flabbergasted. The treadmill worked great for 3+ years. The serviceman said that GFCI outlets should be replaced every few years (ours are 12 years old)! We now plug it into a regular outlet, and it's working fine.

You might want to be sure that your treadmill is happy with the outlet it's plugged into....

Teri2, I think that they call it, "business", don't they? And, with many companies buying up or squeezing out the opposition, the concentration of many businesses enables them to pretty well do as they please. Considering that it costs so much to run a political campaign - and guess who pay for them? - many of them have friends in high places. But - each individual has one vote, and many citizens are getting rather fed up with the big shots' ways. One day there'll be a reckoning. Visit your politicians' meetings. Ask embarrassing questions - and have backup for your side so that the politicians' pals can't shut you down. I was going to try and call the company but everytime I think about it, it's either too late in the night or it's on a weekend. The last time I tried to use my treadmill it ran slowly for about 30 seconds and then stopped. There was an error "message" with a number on the screen but there isn't anything about errors or numbers in the booklet that came with the treadmill. I went on-line and looked at the website, same thing no reference to them. So, I e-mailed the company but got no response and have a feeling I never will. It doesn't look like anything is obstructing the belt, from what I can tell so I'm not sure why it keeps stopping. It moves ok, just really slow and then stops completely. Does anyone know what it could be? I haven't had the treadmill very long, maybe a little over a year.

Immediately. If you are unwilling to use good ole snap traps, you can find a pest control company that traps and removes then humanely,though I wouldn't recommend it. Mice are filthy and destructive, not to mention an excellent attractant for snakes. That's right. Snakes. In. The. House. Not good. Mice are no use alive. Period. I have heard that peppermint oil repels them, but that myth has been debunked,as I found a colony of them living in the ground directly beneath a huge patch of peppermint in my yard. They were frolicking through the frickin mint. I tried to let it go,as they were not in the house. Until one day, I went to change my dogs water. I turned the cooler over to empty the water out. I washed out the cooler, turned around, and coiled up in the spot where the cooler was was a huge,grumpy,and well fed rattlesnake. After dispatching the offending serpent, SO got some gas and poured it down the mouse holes. The fumes got rid of them. I wouldn't recommend you do that in your house though. :) But I digress. A good pest control company will also look for any entrances they are using to get in your house and seal them. I would have called them the first time I saw one or any of the "evidence" they tend to leave all over. For every mouse you actually lay eyes on, there are probably a dozen more skulking around,spreading disease.Good luck.

Wanda, there were pieces broken when the repairman opened it up. A screw flew off, that had been glued in and a wheel was broken in two.
