My son wanted teal in his room too. It was a bit of a battle because at first he wanted this horrific lime green but don't think of limes when I describe this think of army green mixed with yellow and more of a puke lime green. So after waiting a long time I found a few more swatches to see if he might go in a new color direction. He fell in love with this IN YOUR face Teal color. It is from Behr. I love BM paints but I have to say this Behr paint went on fantastic. Primer in the paint and wow only two coats. The color is a bit loud but it works. It is called Intense Teal by Behr Now if this teal by Behr is still too much for you. I know, I know... I would get a soft green or blue solid duvet cover and put the comforter in that as the stuffer. Put the sleeping pillows in the closet when you are not sleeping, just have the white shams there, lying flat on the bed so as not to block the headboard. Take down the plants on the ledge - you don't need to draw attention up there, and they are really too skimpy for the space anyway. Plus, the eye is then drawn to the textured ceiling, which is often not a great selling point. Put the baskets in the closet - no one wants to imagine dirty laundry while they are looking at the room. Then move the armoire further to the right, to give some breathing space to the desk and chair. Get a lamp on the desk, and maybe a small plant, plus a cushion on the seat in the green or blue you choose for the duvet cover, to bring some color to that wall. Switch the nightstand and the decorator table. You have all the darker wood on the right side of the bed, and it feels crowded. Keep the rocker where it is, add a pillow in the green or blue. The rocker will then also be able to share the wood nightstand as a side table. Also, get rid of the doily. If you are worried about scratching the wood, they sell the little pads to stick to the bottom of things at the home centers or places like Hobby Lobby. Get a floor-length tablecover for the decorator table (they are not meant to be used uncovered) again in the green or blue family, put the glass over the top of it. Move the mirror over the dresser so that it hangs to the left half side, and several inches lower. It is too small to be centered over the whole dresser. Then add a lamp on the right side of the dresser. Also, slide the dresser a couple of inches closer to the doorway - no need to center it on the wall, and it will make the space by the night table feel a bit more open. Move it so that the right end lines up with the right edge of the light switch above it. Simple floor-length panels in a blue or green hung on either side of the window, just covering the edges and with the rod about halfway between the window and ceiling, will soften the look of the window and tie everything together. Get a white wood rod to pick up on the trim color and look crisp on the wall, and just shirr the panels on that. I would hang some kind of inexpensive poster print over the bed, something restful and that pulls out the accent color (blue or green) that you have chosen. Make sure it is at least a third the width of the headboard, if not more, so that it doesn't look lost on that wall. You have a great start in the room - a neutral wall and floor, nice furniture. Hello Susan, Greg here, I am one of the ceiling fan experts at Hansen Wholesale. I have been selling ceiling fans for nearly 30 years now and as a test, I put the Minka Aire Concept II in my daughters bedroom, and the Emerson Curva Sky in my small home office. Both rooms are about 10 x 10. They are both 3 blade flush mount fans that are quite similar in style and price range. I prefer the Emerson Curva Sky because it is a bit less heavy looking and runs quieter due to the blade design. It also comes with a 6 speed controller compared to the 3 speeds of the Minka fan. It is also in the same price range. So, I prefer the Emerson fan over the Minka fan. Emerson has been making ceiling fans since 1895, Minka Aire is a recent company about 20 years old now. Both are good brands, but I prefer Emerson for the longevity. I used the 44" fans in these rooms, but if your room is any bigger than 10 x 10 you should use the 52" versions since they move a lot more air. Both versions were upgraded this year to include an LED light and have an "L" in the model number. The previous year's models have a Halogen light. While I like red and I also like orange, I admit to finding that room (on my monitor) extremely bright. I guess because it is a bedroom. I really love the idea of the glaze over the color. I just did that to my laundry room that was brighter than a school bus yellow (ooops!). The glaze really toned it down, and now I like it. It's not a perfect color for my cabinets that will be coming, so the color may eventually change, but at least for now it is tolerable (and my original golden/mustard just was NOT!). LOL! I can definitely see that color left in it's current state, and used on an accent wall. With dark furnishings and maybe some greenery, that could be a very gorgeous "designer" space. If you did the "accent" on the wall where your headboard will rest, you'd never see the color at night when in your bed and supposed to be resting. And of course if you needed to kick up the passion, you and dh could just crank your necks around and glance at that bright wall. :o) LOL! Congratulations on your new cabinetry arriving.
