I think it goes, and wanted to do it myself. Unfortunately I couldn't find a lighted pot rack that I liked, except for one by urban archeology, at around $8K in a nickel finish(yes, you read that correctly). I decided to do school pendants over island and a semi flush schoolhouse over the farm sink. Pot rack for you if money is no object :)

Thanks y'all! I really don't mind the look (Joyce, you better have a darn good reason for leaving that lovely kitchen--oh, I see. That OTHER lovely kitchen!) but I'm thinking it might not be quite so practical, especially with the spouse being uncomfortable about it. (I'm so considerate!) It would be extremely visible from the living, family, and dining room (I'd like to add an S after "room" but someone went crazy knocking out walls in this house.) This would be "temporary", in a somewhat dysfunctional kitchen. The type of temporary that could be months or years. I do see some spots for hooks on cabinet sides though. Maybe I could clear out some skillets...

We've got one hanging just to the right of our stove, and it's handy, so far as having the pots and pans right there, but it's also kind of a pain because it gets in the way when you try and lean over the counter when preparing food for meals. Additionally, the one we have is about 2'x3' powder coated wrought iron. and has a shelf on the top of it for storage, where we initially kept all the pan lids. It only took one time for one of those lids to slip between the strips of wrought iron and "el kabong" my wife in the forehead, and now nothing gets stored up there. When we finally DO get around to remodeling, I have a feeling that thing's going to end up as part of a "yahd sale". :-)

Totally disagree with Patricia -- the way to remove under-cabinet shadows is to put under-cabinet lighting, and otherwise your lights should be placed so that you yourself don't create a shadow while standing at the counter! I like them just a few inches off the wall cabinets, so I'd move all of yours inward a bit. I don't think that the pendants need to lineup with your other lights -- they're usually more decorative than task-oriented. But either way, I would place them relative to the whole peninsula if there is any eyeline from the other side of the counter. (I can't tell whether there is continuous room below this floorplan, or just doors from elsewhere.) But neither one would be offensive to look at or to use. Least clear on the upper-left and lower-right cans -- why not center them with those doorways (if that's what those are)?
