Light cream will only make it better!

I always use cream, sometimes heavy whipping cream.

Thank you both so much for responding!! I am sure it's going to taste great, I was just worried about consistency! (And I always have to follow the recipe exactly or I tend to mess things up!)

Simplest frosting is what my Grandmother taught me to make. One stick of soft butter, touch of vanilla, and pretty much a whole box of confectioner sugar... she always called it 10X. Maybe a few TBSPs of milk... tops.

I agree, light cream will work, as will heavy cream, half and half or any type of milk.

And just because your milk is "out of code" doesn't mean it's no good either, that's just a guideline. As long as it doesn't taste sour it's perfectly safe to drink or use.

Thanks Annie. I am sooo paranoid though and get nervous that I could "hurt" someone with something out of code, esp. since we won't have the cake til tomorrow and nothing is being cooked.

The light cream worked out perfect and I am so happy that I turned to you all for guidance as I would have just used my Betty Crocker tub (and I didn't want to use it for this special cake).

I learn so much from all of you, even though I mainly lurk and post once in a while.
