Went to the Parade of Homes again this year.
Comments (18)Joyce - I think I used the same subway tile in my kitchen that was used in the last kitchen photo you posted and my granite is very similar to that granite. Mine is called Golden Dunes, but I've seen it called Yellow River too. My cabinets are a bit darker in color but it was nice to see a kitchen similar to mine! And even the back of the sofa almost looks identical to the fabric on my sofa! LOL Thanks for posting the photos - I love to look at houses!...See Moretung oil vs hand scraped polyurethane wood floors
Comments (1)Without knowing the actual finish it's hard to say which is best for you. There's usually not much Tung Oil in Tung Oil finishes and polyurethane can be solvent or water based. In general polyurethane finishes are harder, more brittle and vegetable oil with polyester resin finishes are softer less brittle but it depends on the proportion of the ingredients. Of course the most critical factor is the hardness and cut of the wood....See MoreNewly laid engineered wood glue-down and HOLLOW Sound???
Comments (11)Oh wow, I really do hope that is the case, echoflooring! How does one determine if the hollow sound is due to dips, or if it is due to adhesion problems? glennsfc, our substrate was flat to within the manufacturer requirements. The installers used a laser, and leveled areas with the appropriate concrete filler. If we were to use the injection technique to fill, where do we stop? There are seemingly hollow spots in MANY areas, not just one or two. There are so many spots - I'm guessing 30 or more.... thoughts?...See MorePlasticy finish of engineered wood floors
Comments (5)There is a difference between manufacturers. I visited a friend in the flooring business last week as we are going to install engineered hardwood floors due to concrete base and he showed me some that looked like the plastic finish you described and the exceptionally nice ones. It has something to do with the processing in making the floor. If I didn't have concrete as a base I would definitely go hardwood all the way. Remember to be aware of toxicity levels of formaldehyde and the glue they use. I found one company that has the least toxic levels and they sell glue that is also nontoxic....See MoreRelated Professionals
