Wow, for months the name Shiloh didn't come up at all on this forum, and now it's all over. I'm a new Shiloh owner, just trying to finish up a few last details before I post pictures. Anyway, I LOVE the Wyatt door (#2). It was definitely a contender with me. However, like a few of the others who have posted, I think the Homestead (#1) door would be a better look for a painted, white door - very classic. (The picture Kompy posted looks great, though...I guess it depends on the scale of the door). I chose the un-creatively named "Square Flat" door style, in the un-creatively named "Red" stain on cherry (the same color as #2 pictured above). It's a flat panel door, but unlike these two, it has a bead aroud the inside edge of the frame. Originally I was really drawn to Shaker cabinets, but decided that the "Square Flat" veered a little bit towards traditional and would go better with my more traditional style house. I also wanted a glaze, and the bead gave the glaze something to stick to. To answer a couple of your other questions, Shiloh is headquartered in Missouri. They are only available east of the Rockies. (I'm in Texas.)

It may depend on whether you're painting or staining the doors -- paint goes a long way to blur the dissimilarities in style. If your goal is to achieve a historical look, I'd second the idea to check out all your local resources for architectural salvage, building re-use stores, etc. (If there's a local Habitat for Humanity Restore, they usually have amazing deals on doors.) I was lucky enough to get new fir bungalow-style doors for a song at a local outfit who sell remainders and project leftovers. Google around to see what's out there in your area. (And if you're anywhere near mid-coast Maine, give me a shout and I'll point you to the amazing source, they still have a few hundred doors last I checked.) You might also want to hold off a little bit? Doors do make a huge impact, and you could choose the style you most want at a reputable door dealer (I got Rogue Valley doors and am delighted with my luck at the quality), then replace one at a time over the next year or two as you can afford them? But I don't think traditional Victorian 6-panel would be totally out of place if that's the way you choose to go. Would love to see pix of your Shaker cabinets! :)

I have a 36" stock bifold door on a bedroom closet. Stiles are 2" wide. Top is 4.5" high and bottom is 8.25" high. These are one panel shaker doors. The stiles look a little skinny but are ok. They would probably be a good width for a narrower door. I used a cabinet knob. My 22" 5 panel doors (custom designed by the door company) have 3.75" rails in the middle, 4.25" stiles on knob side, 4.5" stiles on hinge side. They look thick. If you figure 2/3 of that, yours might be 2.5" in the middle and close to 3" on stiles. So I would say 2-3" on stiles and middle rails. Larger top rail, and even larger bottom rail. If you are matching other shaker doors in the house, take those into consideration, especially for top and bottom rails. But if you are using standard doorknobs, you need at least 4.25" stiles for the knobs to not look crowded. That only gives you about 3/4" distance from the panel. That only leaves 6" of panel compared to 9" of stile. That would look off to me. My five panel doors have about 9" of stile to 11" of panel, and it still looks thick. I think you need to have skinnier stiles and use cabinet knobs. Looking back at your design, I think you can go bigger on top and bottom rails if you want. That may satisfy your need for bigger stiles. You might be able to go slightly bigger on stiles and middle rails too. Make sure you have enough panel. As is, it looks more like cabinet doors to me than closet doors. Here is my five panel door. If you are doing only 3 panels, I would play with wider middle rails, but no wider than the stile width. (Sorry so blurry.)

Hi, I have an order in at Scherrs right now, based on your blog, love what you did! I have the same question as Shelby above from April 10, 2020. Did you get your Caesarstone through ikea, if so do you remember the name/color? IKEA is telling me they may be having a sale on countertops next month. Also, the marble behind your cook top, have you had any issues with oil splashes effecting the marble? Lastly can you give me the height of your backsplash leading up to the little shelf?Thx for your time and great info.
