how can i reduce 2 stroke engine noise
Comments (8)Here is an idea: First study the current muffler and how it is mounted to the cylinder. After your familiar with the engine, run a search for Radio Controlled boat engine silencers. Many of the larger RC toys use string trimmer, blower or chainsaw engines. Finding a silencer for the exhaust port size shouldnt be that difficult. Another crude method that may work is to take a large Chili Bean can and fit standard flameproof fiberglass insulation into it. You would then mount the bean can over your snow blower engine's muffler. Just make sure there is enough air flow through the can so you dont choke the engine's air flow. You could wire mount the can untill you come up with a permanent solution, or even take it on and off depending upon the time that you want to use it. For sure a tip of the hat to you for being a nice neighbor!...See MoreNeed to reduce noise since installing laminate flooring

Comments (6)My Texas house had two Trane furnace/AC units in the attic, and they were suspended from the roof rafters with metal strapping. The drain/condensate pan was then suspended under the A/C unit. This was a very common installation in that area. The units were not connected to the ceiling joists in the room below and did not touch them, so there was no direct transmission of vibration. You could tell the unit above the bedroom was running, but that was because you could hear the air flow into and out of the room (each bedroom had an air return). Comments (1)I have been in your shoes! Good call with putting in heavy drapes, it does help. For your windows, I would change out the single curtain rods for double ones, extend the length past the windows on either side, hang sheer drapes on the inner rod and even thicker ones on the outer. Make sure you get enough thick curtain panels to bunch up on either side, at least double what you have now in the living room. Get plush rugs instead of the flat pile area rugs and put one in your dining, under the table. I hate to cover the tile detail but would sacrifice that for the sake of ears (and sanity). You're right about leather not helping reduce noise! It amplifies it. Large textured throw pillows and draping thick textured throws over the backs of furniture helps. Canvas art without glass is great too! To boost their echo stopping power, you can fill the empty space behind it with foam or cut a flat acoustic panel to size and put in behind it. I'd also put acoustic panels behind all of your current art work....See MorePatintle
