bathroom floor options in old house

Our house was built in 1930 and is a wood frame house off the ground. We are not trying to renovate it because it has been remodeled over the years. Almost nothing is original to the house. Anywho, the contractor said he didn't want to put tile on the bathroom floor because if the house gives or shifts any he was worried about grout or tile cracking. I have been looking online to see what people say about wood laminate in bathrooms. I know it used to be a cardinal sin, but it seems some manufacturers are coming around on the idea as long as toilet and tubs are sealed correctly and you know you have to remove spills or standing water immediately.

Does anyone have any experience with this or have on other ideas for flooring? I really don't want to go with linoleum or even those press down square stuff.

Thanks.
