stools for island - anyone have any suggestions?

Hi all,

We are just about done! I will post more pics soon as soon as I can get the contractor to clean up a bit ;)

I am on the hunt for the perfect stools for the island. This will mainly be a place for the kids (both under 10) to eat. Ideally, the would have a back, but a low back that might even fit under the butcher block. And it would be great if they are easy to clean. Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that the island has an oak butcher block on it and the counters are Caesarstone "Espresso"... Island is antiqued black.

While I am going for an older look (house was built in 1912...), I like mixing old with new. Would it be crazy to buy these modern looking stools:

Oooh, your kitchen is looking great! Beautiful paint color.

I thought of these stools from Wisteria when you said you were toying with the idea of something modern--the seats are oak, seems like kids would love the seat shape, and I like the finish and materials with the rest of your kitchen. Kinda modern, but not TOO modern....

I love your house, btw! Looking forward to finished pics.

The Shaker stools I had made for my kitchen may be something that suits yours. They're lightweight and clean-lined but extremely sturdy and comfortable. Mine are maple with walnut stain, but I think they'd be nice in cherry in your kitchen. You could get the taped seat done in shades to match your banquette upholstery. While mine are the classic check, there are other weave options. We have 4 w/ backs @ the island and 2 backless stools for extra seating. I will try to post my first pictures here to show you.

'My husband will never move the tv (he laughed)' - This is generally the response when hubby does not want to go through the trouble of moving something. Don't have him move it - hire someone to do it for you. Once it is done he will be just as reluctant to move it back. If he insists on having it moved back show him the numerous articles that explain that the viewing height above the fireplace is too high and the heat and soot from the fireplace will reduce the longevity of the TV. The other option is to buy him a new, larger, curved front TV and have that mounted to the wall next to the TV as a suprise gift.

I have a room with similar windows! We chose SW Comfort Gray (with Alabaster trim work) and love it. Though the name is gray, it’s definitely more blue-green and a nice complement to our other gray/greige walls.

Anyone have any suggestions for a great shower head ? Not a hand held

My designer was here today helping me with some staging and I asked about my Speakman shower heads. She said that Speakman manufactured shower heads for some brands but they weren't advertised as such but just sold as part of the brand. For example, my shower fixtures are by Phylrich which uses the Speakman shower head under its brand. Evidently Speakman has particular design/construction elements which are recognizable that a professional recognizes a "Speakman" shower head even when it is not branded specifically but is being sold as part of the plumbing "package" by other brands.

I think the ones you chose would look nice. Even though they're modern, everything is square which I think will work really well with all your other elements.

Totally different than what you've chosen, here's what I'm getting for mine. My house is early 1900's and I'm doing white shaker cabinets too. I know the kids will love the spinny seats, I just hope that novelty wears off quickly. ;)

I think what you've chosen looks great. Nice and slim and not screaming look at me and yet still stylish. Can you go sit in them and see if they are comfy?
