Thanks for the responses. They made us think a bit more about the space and have decided to add another foot or so of width so I can put some shelves on the non-window wall. We mocked that up & it works just fine. Ohhh, inglenook! I want one of those so much, but I think it will have to wait until we finish the lower level. Gosh, after I posted, I was afraid of how the comment about DH singing, humming & talking to himself would sound, so I'm glad it gave y'all a laugh. He has always been an auditory learner/thinker, but I believe it has become more pronounced since he retired. I don't want him to change, but I know that it sometimes just gets too much for me. I kinda feel like our dogs must - we have a couple of small dogs beds tucked into some nooks in the living areas. They go there to sleep when they just want to get away. (Like the two of us intrude so much on their little doggie lives. LOL!) The "full service" turret sounds grand! Our sitting area will carry down to the lower level, so that might be a nice place to put a small fridge, sink and coffee maker for the guest suite. We want that to have a feeling of being a self contained enclave where a house guest will feel comfortable and not as if they are intruding. (Hint: Want DD and future SIL to be willing to stay with the old folks for longer than they might be inclined if they were stuffed into a tiny guest room.) Thanks again for the responses. The bump on the shower was put in so that the shower didn't need doors. I know that the bump isn't absolutely necessary, but it will allow us to have more shower heads (and possibly more people) in there with less fear of splashing. We'd like to have the option of bringing a kid in there. As for the "make-up bump", we're open to any and all suggestions on how to use that space. I suggested to DH that we move the linen closet into the nook created by the closet overhang. However, he seems to be a fan of shifting everything back so that the closet doesn't extend past the bumpout and the using that space as an option to place the bed. Does anyone see any advantage to moving things around and doing one large shared closet? If we did one closet, it would be placed on the left side so the bathroom could occupy the right and get the morning sun.

kiki how high does the niche in the fireplace go up? I'm seeing a beautiful print or a huge mirror in there. I'm a mirror over the fireplace gal. I keep looking at that beautiful bright room and something is not right to me. I think the furniture placement is not showing off the architectural features of the room. Listen to me, sound like I know what I'm talking about, don't I? Not really. However, I do watch a lot of HGTV (I hear the hisses and boos now) and I do pay attention to what the good designers say about furniture placement. Can you post a photo of the entire room or if it's too big, the other side that we can't see from the photo you posted? I hope you don't mind that I want to rearrange your room. It's so pretty, I just want to play with your furniture and accessories. LOL I know there are others with a better eye than I that can chime in to assist me in my quest to rearrange the room so the fireplace and those magnificent windows are not blocked. Obvs it depends on your needs! Maybe you could do a combination of both? - move bed into corner == two walls for windows - room for an office area - having the closet and bath in the same area == someone can get ready without traversing back & forth through the bedroom (and possibly waking the other person) - lots of room for a reach in closet opposite the walk-in closet (linen storage; shoes; out of season stuff; etc) - I might remove the shelves from the bathroom - your WC is a bit tight (where do you stand once you're inside & want to close the door??) If you remove the shelves you can push out the length of the WC
