Andrew - thanks for updating us on your back. It's a long row to hoe, I'm sure, but things are looking up! Did they give you any kind of timeline for when you should be expecting a return of sensation to those areas that are still numb? That fall you took in your bedroom sounded very scary! You're going to have to be extra careful so you don't do yourself any damage! Glad I was sitting down because my legs went weak when I read that. Don't try to push yourself too much! You should order yourself a celadine from Molokai. Those pics in the other post were insane! I hope your uncle is doing better. Take care!

Thanks, still have to design and build/have built medicine cabinet and storage cabinet over toilet, paint edging for one edge of tile, redo window sill (too wide now that tile is up), paint door trim and door, install granite, faucet, sink, drawers and handles... Well, phoned CS this morning, she asked "Did you clean the walls first" (slight language barrier as think she must be French LOL), "of course" I replied. Thinking aha, that's probably what it was. DH installed glass when I was away, and I'm pretty darn sure he would NOT have cleaned it off before he applied the seal (comes with very high bond tape). So, not sure how we will address the seal on the stationary glass, we're thinking somehow heat it up (maybe with hair dryer) and try and reseal it... They will be sending out new seals via FedExpress (hopefully today), but DH wants to try using the heating up method to get these current ones to reseal, and keep the new ones as back-ups. They seem pretty securely fastened today... Dreaming, the bottom shelf is a piece of our granite 'Aran Creme', and the back is a stone mosaic, probably limestone or travertine marble. We will use the same mosaic as backsplash for the vanity along with matching marble pencil liners for edging, still have to decide how high to go...

I don't fell like I got too much out of seeing a diabetic educator. It was a cookie cutter approach because it was a class. The number of carbs that I was told were okay was way too much for me. I don't recall if it was on this board or elsewhere, but the best advice I have seen was to do some experimenting first - using your glucose monitor to see how you react to different foods. Then, armed with that information and your list of foods that you are willing to eat, you can see a dietician who will help you to plan meals around those limitations. Dr. Oz on Oprah, when asked a question about mercury in salmon said "Don't sweat the small stuff, the first order of business is to lose weight." I think that for diabetics the prime directive is getting our weight down and our blood sugar under control. If that means eating more fats than are optimal for me, then so be it for now.

Thank you all! I loved reading about your precious kitties, stillanntn. You are so kind and loving. Cath, for some reason I don't have that episode, but I'm watching lots of them through the DVR. Big mistake watching Dr. Pol put down his own dog, Freya. So sad:( Millie is starting on supplements this week for her joints, so you are spot on Sonic and stillanntn. One of the vets will be looking at her soon, as she needs further deforming,( just to be sure, for the 3rd time, as she arrived loaded). She will also be getting some sort of allergy shot to help with her runny nose. Thank you all for your good wishes and kind words. She is a delightful little girl and so filled with joy ALL of the time! Yesterday, she caught(and ate!) a fly in midair. You should have seen the mighty little hunter. It's very hard to keep her calm sometimes. I wish you all could see her! She loves everyone, people, cats, dogs, you name it. They are all treated like dearly loved friends. The vets speculated that she might be a bit "slow" mentally at first, when she was deathly ill. Not so. After just three trips into the garden in three days, she made a quick realization. If momma puts those green Sloggers on, she's going into the garden, and I'm going to do my best to make sure I go along! I wish I could bring her out all the time, but she's so excitable.
