Just thinking... One of the challenges your kitchen poses is around 8 more years of teenagers. No matter where you locate the ref and the micro, the teens will invade that space in search of fluids and stuff they heat up in the micro. I'm guessing snack materials will be stored in the pantry. Roughly, I think I'd switch the use of the walls as shown. I'm not sure but I might move the ref to the interior corner of the cleanup wall. This attempts to keep teens corralled on the cleanup wall by providing them with complete access to micro, ref, dishes and pantry without their being in your cooking aisle. There is another thing about refs that applies if the ref is on the outside wall, but not on the inside wall and located near the pantry. The wall for the pantry is longer than the body of the ref if the ref is on the outside wall - so it needs some cabinet between it and the pantry. If the ref is on the inside wall, it will fit just fine up against the edge of the pantry entrance without the dreaded utility cabinets. The other reason I'd move the ref after thinking about it is to restore wall ovens in about the same place that the ref is drawn. Thinking about myself only, I might use undercounter ovens and bigger windows. No matter what, I'd cut the counter in front of the passthrough window. It would just make the reach longer - I'd move the door a little and make a not real deep counter outside instead. The little box outside of the window is for positioning only. I'd really consider a doublehung instead of a sliding window. The usable opening becomes very small. I would not take the windows out of the kitchen. It has to do with how the kitchen would feel. The drawing might be confusing because it has uppers AND the windows thinking it would be either/or but not both.

very modern... Bar is 42" high, behind range is a stainless or tiled riser to about 12" above counter for a splash, heat guard that wraps the bar a bit before dying off. French doors to courtyard and a dbl window over a baking area with a single 30" wall oven with its top at about 48" high. Can have warming ov under or on island. Would plan on second ov being one of the new, cute, 18" tall ovs under baking counter. Prep sink/hand sink near ref, mw near ref. So just up for fun. If being my own critic - be nicer if ref or drinks ref was on the other side of the room near the cleanup area. Be nicer if did walk-thru pantry from garage somehow - could ditch groceries right away. Not sure if you entertain or how you like to entertain or how you like to cook or what you cook. yellsNext in line!

No changes to the windows: Click to enlarge I wasn't sure about some of the measurements, so this is a rough estimate of cabinet widths, and there are no uppers. Having only one wall of cabinets plus island, I put the fridge (36", might be room for 48") near the DR, with a range. Alternate plan would be to extend the wall beside the pantry and put the fridge there, with the wall ovens where the fridge is drawn, since you don't want an UC oven, but that would make the island somewhat of a barrier. The fridge could also go in the middle of the pantry space, with pantry cabs on each side. ETA, I'm not sure if the fridge would be close enough to the island for landing space. The 30" pantry could be an upper with base, or a tall cabinet on the counter, with landing space in front of it. Blank space m/l:

Here is the information y'all requested. I appreciate all feedback. Clearly, I need the help!! Our home is a ranch in an established subdivision outside of New Orleans. We have 3 teenagers / college kids and dogs. We cook and eat at home often. We entertain and host all holiday meals at our home too. Kids usually eat at the island. We eat family dinners together in the kitchen at our table most nights. As my teens / young adults grow, I envision our home and kitchen being the gathering spot for holidays and get-togethers, and the kids usually have a friend or two over visiting also. We tend to use our island as our “drop zone” during the week as we are coming and going. DETAILS: 1. Getting new appliances. A big, french door fridge (35.5 inches wide, SS) Keeping current dishwasher (standard 24", SS) Adding a drawer microwave (27" Sharp SS) Still trying to decide about range or cooktop / oven. If I get a range, it will be 30" with a double oven configuration. If I select a professional range, it will be 36". If I do a cooktop / oven, the cooktop will be 36" and double ovens. All SS. Big, deep single bowl SS sink 33" (requires a 36" cabinet) 2. Yes, I definitely want an island that we can have at least 3 stools at it for teens to eat, etc. 3. In the lower left corner, we already have a table and eating area. 4. Things I would like: * A pullout base cabinet that will hold 3 trash cans (21" cabinet) * I would prefer that most or all of my base cabinets be drawers. Otherwise, If I have lower cabinets, then I want pull out shelves. * I'd like a big island, and I think I could accommodate that. * I want some floor to ceiling cabinetry that I can store all of my kitchen appliances in (i.e. - blender, rice cooker, instant pot, crockpots, roasting pan, air fryer, etc.) * I would like to have a hood in my kitchen to help get rid of cooking smells * Off-white traditional style cabinet doors, full overlay, raised panel PICTURES: A. We don’t really use the butler’s pantry for much other than storage, so we were thinking of getting rid of our current pantry, and making the butler’s pantry into our food pantry. (and closing off the opening into the office area.) The reason we want to remove the wall between the kitchen and living room is because we want a more open concept layout to allow us to see out into the backyard more.
