PB Duvet, Anyone have this one?

Being from the south, the word duvet was a foreign word to me. Here you have a quilt on your bed or a bedspread. I just received my new PB catalogue and this duvet cover has captured my brain. But, I have those thicker mattresses and this duvet is only 108"x92". Its wide enough but not long enough. Does anyone have this Eliza Duvet Cover and did you put a bedskirt with it to make up the shortage. If so, is it a cream or a white in it for the light color.

Well, I am from the south too, but I do know what a counterpen, duvet, comforter, goose feathers, chicken feathers and eiderdown all are, LOL but I am really from the country, way down in the swamp, so I probably heard more "old" words in my youth that most. Hmm, or maybe it was because I took a few years of French, but at any rate...

I think most duvets look better with bedskirts if you do not have a pretty bed frame and instead have those unsightly metal railings. I have beds with pretty rails and some with ugly rails.

I have found PB duvet covers to be as generous as any others. I do have a pillow-top mattress and some that are not, and duvet covers are always a bit short, but I pull them back and allow the pretty sheets to show and pack on a lot of pillows, or you can use the duvet cover without a duvet.

I hope that is what you were asking. Sometimes I confuse myself. Oh, yes, and I know what a quilt is too, have helped make a few in my life.

We put our duvet the long way across the bed, if that makes any sense. It still doesn't come down very far on the sides.

OT but regarding regional names: growing up down here in Texas, we had "comforts." My great-grandmother collected feathers from her chickens (yes she did!) and sent them off someplace where they were washed and made into beautiful machine-quilted satin comforts. These were placed on the beds when guests stayed over. Only once did I get to sleep under one. My mother still has them.

I've linked to pictures on the PB site below. As for mixing it with white sheers, it would depend on how white the sheers are. If they are a bright white, I would say that they might not look best with this duvet. You could tea or coffee dye the sheers, though, to tone them down. OK, so this is kind of embarrassing, after all my debating about what color Peytons to go with.... We were in Boston last weekend and went to a Pottery Barn and bought one panel in the Peyton Chestnut and one panel in the Clay silk dupioni. When we brought them back to Florida and hung them on a pole side by side in our family room/sunroom, the Peyton just seemed too heavy for the room with a texture too similar to our cream-colored sectional (see photos above). Also, we want to be able to push the panels as far out of the way during the day and the silk really seem much lighter and fold up much smaller. So after all this, it looks like we will by going with the bronzey-looking clay silk dupionis after all! Now our big dilemma is whether to go with the 84 inch length panels, which means with the pole and rings they will aang 5 inches above the 82-inch windows (including trim), or spring for the 96-inch ones and go to the expense of hemming them, just to get a few inches more in height. Oh decisions, decisions!!! (yes, I am looking for advice, f anyone wants to look at my photos above.) Thanks. Mollie, can't wait to see how your drapes look -- please post pictures!

I want to show you guys my current "messy" desk, so you can help me decide on a color. My original plan was to create a shabby chic office, so the white desk would fit right into that plan. I will probably work for at least 15 more years, so I need something that will hold up well over the extent of that time, which has me thinking about a metal desk. I can only find the metal desk in light gray or charcoal. My walls are a grayish blue, so which do you think would look better? I haven't ruled out the white desk, just trying to look at all the options. Desk #1 charcoal w mahogany Desk #2 gray on gray Desk #3 This is cheaper than the ones above, so I think it may be wood or some type of laminate.

Nope, neither one of those are it. Whenever I look for paisley, I come up with bedding and I'm pretty sure this wouldn't have been bedding. They had it on a sofa and I'm pretty sure it was a big square pillow. It may not have even been paisley, I just know the colors reminded me of my paisley pillows. I thought it was in their catalogs, but I've looked through most of them and can't find it. Do they ever have things in the store that aren't in the catalogs? I remember one time before when my mother saw some candlestick holders there and then decided later she wanted them and I never could find them online. I guess I'm going to have to remember that if I see something in the store I like, I better get it right then and not think about it.

Skeet, if it is wide enough, how can it not be long enough? I am probably being dense here, but I am not sure how that would work.

You know that the duvet is not supposed to cover the pillows like a bedspread does, but just get pulled up on top of the bed to the end of the mattress - in fact, if it is a bit short, you can leave it an inch or two down from the top end, as the shams will cover it.
