littleredhen - I helped a young girl in my office whose acne was flaring constantly - she was using St. Ives. I am Canadian so product choices are different (more limited usually). Eventually she found she could tolerate some of the Vichy products - I think you can get them in the US. Or you could try Cetaphil - my skin is very, very dry so does not work for me. But most important thing for you is to establish a proper skin care routine - and toss the Noxzema. I am 55 and everyone used it when I was a teen but long term use can result in problems later on. Re acne around your mouth, have you considered your tooth paste (tartar control is a devil for this); are you placing a phone received against your mouth - this is known to cause acne - I got around that by placing moleskin around the mouthpiece daily - and cleaning it - and of course pillowcases. Also some foods - acid types such as grapefruit can cause a problem - me for example. jannie - At 55 I feel your pain and I am allergic to most things. I note that you live in NY - maybe check out some of the Erno Laszlo products from the 8:30 clock. Also you might want to avoid moisturizers with a combined SPF - go separate. I use a night cream during day to avoid the combo product.

I have had acne issues my whole life and attributed it to being allergic to acidic drinks and foods like tomato sauce, orange juice, grapefruits, etc. Well, come to find out I accidentally tried the Clear & Clean tube that was sitting in our medicine cabinet. I have not had one outbreak since using it every day. Even better, I can now enjoy all that food I have been avoiding for decades. I highly recommend it to anyone. As long as you are sure you will have the quality of lighting that is right for your purposes, do what you like the looks of and don't worry about what others think. Having enough light for your needs is all that counts. In my L shaped kitchen, I formerly had only two ceiling fixtures and although I "thought" it was reasonable lighting, my kitchen designer encouraged me to consider the recessed ceiling pots. We now have 8 recessed pots to replace those two previous fixtures in our not yet complete renovation. I am thrilled to pieces that I listened to my KD. The quality of light I have now is sooo much better. Previously, when I stood in front of the counter there was obvious shadowing falling on the counter in front of me, now if I stand in front of the counter, there is an even light and if I really look for it I can still see a faint shadowing but basically the counter is shadow free. We have Ice Par halogen bulbs in them to give a diffuse even light. I didn't realize before that my lighting was substandard since it was all I'd had for 27 years. I will also be getting under cab lighting to brighten the space under the cabinets and one pendant to go over our little eating/workspace peninsula beside the stove. The pendant is not to use with the other lights but to use instead for someone having a late night snack or such. I have a family member who did a kitchen reno and replaced her original fixtures with improved ones rather than going with recessed pots and she is satisfied with what she has. I probably would have been satisfied if I had done the same but I am happy that I took the chance on the change since I can see that it has made an improvement for me and I haven't even got to the point of moving in to my new space yet! I can't see that simply replacing my orginal fixtures would have chased away the shadows the way that this lighting arrangement has.

bizabet, my cat's acne came and went throughout his lifetime. Generally when we'd get it cleared up, it would stay cleared up for extended periods of time without being cleaned or treated- for us it was breaking that cycle and getting it cleared up that was the tricky part. The last time that cat had acne, he ended up losing all the whiskers on one side of his face as a result. I had him in an e-collar for a while, and also ended up putting soft-paws on his hind claws to keep him from scratching and mutilating himself. That reminds me that I also made a point of cleaning his feet/claws regularly to avoid extra contamination. I had heard, and strongly believe, what harebell said about lower immunity. This particular cat was also prone to having ringworm and similar outbreaks. That is generally associated with a lowered immune system. That's not to say that there was something fundamentally wrong with him, immune systems can wax and wane, but anything you can do to strengthen his immune system might help.
