If it's a perennial garden, what I would do is get a bulb auger and use a drill to make some holes about 12-18 inches deep. Put the sulfur in the holes, leaving 4-6 inches on top. Cover with some soil and water it in. In the short term, you can get a very short lived change with some diluted vinegar, but make sure you don't get any on the leaves. I don't know what to do with the azaleas. I've never tried to grow any. For other plants, if they have chlorosis (yellow leaves or yellow with green veins), you can spray them with a water soluble iron product when it's fairly cool out. It helps give even coverage if you add a little detergent or shampoo to the water. You can also add some chelated iron to the soil. It should also be covered or watered in (it doesn't need to be deeply covered, but shouldn't stay right on top of the soil). With a pH of 7.6, the more common (and less expensive) EDTA chelated iron will probably not help. You'll want to look for EDDHA chelated iron. There's a relatively new product called iron sucrate that is made with molasses and is supposed to have iron that is available to plants. I don't know how common that is. I've only seen small bags of fertilizer from Miller that have it. If you can get it, greensand is supposed to work well for the iron (and maybe other micronutrients). I can't get it around here and have no personal experience with it, but I've read others' posts about it and it seems to work well for them.

So you all know that my dear, sweet hubby enlarged our pass-through window after that little flood/mold/asbestos mess. We used granite tiles, 12" x 12" to tile the counters. We raised our counters ADA which enabled us to keep the counters in the kitchen a height equal to the counter extension we made into the dining room....one nice, large area. With our Brood, we need all the serving/buffet space we can get. So far it's worked our wonderfully and I couldn't be more thrilled with the extended space. Galley kitchen means we couldn't have an Island I've always wanted but this is the next best thing....long, deep, pass food through, set it up with a nice tablescape like I did for Thanksgiving dinner....I love it! It's not completed yet as we still have to fix all the mess/water damage in the dining room but that will come. So Mr. Amity is sitting in the dining room tonight and says "We have this big expanse of counter/buffet area, what do your Kitchen Buddies do with it when it's not being used for serving?" I said I didn't know.... that I hadn't really looked at that many pass-throughs.....too busy ooohhhing and ahhhing over the other details in kitchen buddys' pictures. So he bugged me a second time and I could tell he's anxious to make the area look good when not being used for serving. Just as he was asking me a third time, I was already looking through the Search here on Kitchen Forums and I see that RJR220 has a rather large pass-through area. So I went to the Finished Kitchen Blog to search for more pics of RJR220's kitchen but couldn't find it. So RJR220, if you are reading this and have more pics of your kitchen with that wonderfully large pass-through, would you be willing to share them with me....and of course, for anyone else who would love to see them? In fact....anyone reading this that has a pass-through and has decorated it, done something a bit different so that it separates it from the kitchen, tiled, framed or..well, you get the idea..... Can any of you show me what you've done to your pass-through? Right now we have an older, tall buffet lamp with a *gasp!* :) fake plant and a platter set/platter standing up on a small table plate stand. That's what you see from the dining room side but I'm sure there are more creative ways to adorn this area. I'm thinking dear hubster has watched too much HGTV and wants his little masterpiece to be the focal point from both kitchen and dining room area. Me? NotSoMuch. I'd rather have dining set/chairs be what you zero in on when you look in the dining room and the kitchen, well, it's utilitarian..it's a kitchen! LOL

Hi Jan! Wondering which windows you decided to go with. We live in coastal Los Angeles, so different weather, but also looking at aluminum clad windows. I was thinking all aluminum also (our architect recommended Fleetwood), but I don't really want a black or silver window on the inside of my house....so that got me to the wood/aluminum clad... We are also doing a glad corner window with no post in the middle, so there are only a limited number of vendors who make that....one I think is Kolbe. bpath - I’m happy you’re happy with Bosch because if I have a leaning that may be it. Caroline - Glad your Viking is working out for you. I’ve got a Viking cooktop which is perfectly fine as far as reliability goes. Their wall ovens are well out of my price range. My goal is to like something enough to be happy until a remodel, without spending so much that I feel married to it at remodel. I don’t have an ETA on that remodel. Interesting you mentioned KA, as I completely forgot about them until I stumbled on a discussion. Seems to have been a lot of problems a while back, and then everyone stopped talking about them. Maybe because they stopped buying them?
