I know, I'm so sorry this took so long! After the cabinet installers left we wanted to take the appliances out of their boxes and get them in their spots so we had some room to work and when we moved the dishwasher we discovered a leak in the radiant heat floor panels. We think the screw that held the backerboard down moved when the dishwasher was rolled over it and well, we sprung a leak. So we had to deal with that. Then my mom, aunt, uncle and grandmother came over to see it. Then we had to go to our friend's house to get the repair coupling for the radiant heat. So things did not going exactly according to plan this evening. haha, but it's all good. Crisis averted. haha!

I just took some picks of under the cabinet and I'll post them soon.

Yup, that's the light...I freaking love it! It's way bigger then I thought but the scale of the light fits in I think. I can't wait to see it hanging!

I don't know for sure what the granite place does as far as sinks, but I can ask them tomorrow when they come to template. I don't think a sink is included though.

The cabinets are birch plywood boxes with cinnamon stained maple fronts/doors/drawers. The corner cabs have lazy susans. The door base to the left of the range and to the right of the dishwasher are ROTs. The drawer base and the sink base are all one unit which is neat. Wasn't expecting that. :) They still need to bring the other sink door, some more toekick and trim pieces and apparently we'll need to do something with the dishwasher. DH thinks we'll need something to fill between the counter and the dishwasher to secure the dishwasher too. But I need to investigate this some more because I'm not so sure he's right.

Th cabs look beautiful! I like the bright yellow too as I love yellow. In my old house, I used BM shooting star. It was perfect...bright enough and creamy but not glowing. Good luck, it looks great.

lzerarc: DH installed the windows with some friends of ours. They said that's how they done it in all of their houses. :-/ All I know is they did overlap the flashing (? I think that's what the thick black tar-like sticky stuff is) outside so that water would run off not run under. I have no idea.

The backsplash is going to be painted T&G Beadboard. I want to do that an off white color. Since the floor will be black slate I don't want the room too dark. I feel like the wall color should be more of a deeper gold then a bright yellow. I'm thinking the BS should be the same color as the ceiling. but that's TBD.

Tom, that is kinda funny! We also got the soft close drawers, but the doors are just regular close. The hardware turned out awesome, I am so glad I picked them! All my finishes in my kitchen will be different, but I don't care...I love it! And really my only realy complaint about BMW is that it takes a little while to hear back from them sometime. But then again, I have no frame of reference for how long is too long since this is the first tiem we've ever done anything like this. I understand that they basically work with a skeleton crew now and Kyle is very hands-on with the business. So That's what I chalked it up to. If I went a few days without hearing from them, I'd drop them a line to see where they're at. GL!

the window looks to be a pella proline maybe??? Applying the "black tar tape" is correct. However if not installed per manufact. instructions, it voids the warranty. This is that fine little print stuff they try to pull to get them off the hook however possible. Problem with Tyvek is its not a water or moiture barrier, so it still gets through. The water that gets through travels down the sheathing behind the tyvek, behind the black tape, and follows it directly into your house since it is also under the window flange. A correct install you fold the tyvek up out of the way so the TOP flange can be nailred to the sheathing. The sides and bottom do go over the tyvek. The top you nail the window on, then tape it to the sheathing. next you lap the tyvek over the window flange, then tape that joint again. that way anything that gets behind the tyvek is still infront of the window flange and wont flow right in with the tyvek.
Sorry to bring it up in your great cabinet thread, but just thought I would throw that out there if it wasnt too late to fix it. I would hate for you to have a great new kitchen with a new leaky window and the maker doesnt cover it due to an lame install reason! Chances are, you will probably be fine.
Anyway, I will shut up about it, sorry :)

white bb will look really nice as the back splash. I think it would be a nice touch to do that on the ceiling as well! I also agree, the more golden you can get the paint, the better, especially with that granite.

no worries lzerarc, I appreciate the explanation :) I wasn't around when he put them in so I really don't know exactly how he did it and if/how it can get fixed. BUT it never hurts to ask :) I'll ask him about it tonight.

I do know that windows are Anderson 400 series. But that's all I know :)

Love the cabinets - had to go back and see what the deal was with the windows though - yup, now I see it. (we installed all Pella Proline windows).

The cabinest are beautiful. Isn't it so neat to walk in and see them? In a few days we'll have the end panels installed on ours - I finally feel like my kitchen is starting to look like I've dreamed of - and I smile every time I walk in and see that I still have white cabinets and soapstone (It wasn't something I dreamed in my sleep).

craftlady, I am so happy for you, and I absolutely can't beleive that was all done in 6 hours, I thought it would take a week based on what I hear from the forum. How many guys were there? And do you have a beaded inset or plain? I couldn't quite tell from pic, what style did you ask for just shaker or is it called something else, because I think I see alittle detail in the draw.I could not wait to see it, I esp. love the grain/color, it's so warm. I have willmington tan(BM)pait in my hall and it is a deep gold that would look great, check it out! good luck with the rest TOM- did u go there already???

Try BM Concord Ivory. A beautiful yellow that looks great in all types of light.

michelle - yup, 6 hours, 2 guys (no lunch break or anything). And the floor was no where near level so they had to do a fair amount of shimming. They are beaded inset and I didn't ask for a specific style per se. I pointed to a sample in the showroom and said "I want that". I'm not lying, that's really what I did :) And thanks for the rec on paint, I will check it out :)

Oh, my goodness, your cabinets (and kitchen) are GORGEOUS! I'd be doing happy dances all day long.

If you want paint suggestions that are more gold than yellow, I have two for you: BM Philadelphia Cream and BM Jicama. I'm hunting down a new color for my DR at the moment and I really liked both of these but there a little too gold for what I need. I'm going with BM Standish White - not nearly as attractive a paint name but the right color for the room.

btw, don't go by what you see on-line for these colors. They look much warmer IRL.

It's funny becuase I was convinced I picked a black hardware but it was almost 2 months ago so who can really be sure. when they brought the first cabinet in I was like "oh wow, I like what I picked even though it was not at all what I remember" haha! It all worked out though :)

I'm so excited for the granite!

I want to do a soft off white paint on T&G beadboard for the backsplash. I think it'll look nice if I do that same color on the ceiling and the back door. I don't know what I'm going to do for a coat closet door right now. The trim and windows will all be stained the same color as the cabinets. So the walls are really the only thing left. The granite is mostly a creamy soft off white with yellows (more gold than yellow) with some brown black spots. it's a very spotty grantie, not veiny. The creamy/buttery and lemony yellows don't work, it definitely needs more of a brown/golden tone.

I've been buying sample pots and painting drywall scraps and leaning them around varying points in the kitchen. if I picked a color off a swatch I'd be in made shape right now since none of the "sure winners" have looked right. so I'll just keep trying samples.

Couldn't help but notice the Phillies Hat! Great to see a fellow fan. Would you mind sharing the name of your cabinet maker? I am in Bucks County. Your cabinets are beautiful. Thanks.

I just love the moulding treatment at the top. I'm not a fan of the imperial giant sized stuff that is so common now (and which I got stuck with). Yours is elegant and dressy without being over the top googah. Perfect!

The cabinet maker is blue mountain woodworking just outside Bath Pa (about an hour north of Philly). if you need more specific information let me know. Thanks fori!! I like the big moulding in the right setting but I didn't want anything to really over power the space. We have nice high ceilings in the main part of the kitchen but the room is really only 12x12 (the open eat-in kitchen area not really shown in these photos is about 6x10 - the spaces aren't totally separate and really it's one big room with varying ceiling heights). I think the built in look is great to make a large room seem more cozy but I wasn't going for that. my room is cozy enough as it is :)

How exciting! Love the warm wood tones. You could check to see what laxsupermom used for yellow paint in her kitchen (lovely!). I was just looking at her pics and the wood tone in her kitchen might be similar to yours. Her kitchen:

I thought I asked a question yesterday, but don't see it up there. Oh well. Anyways, it looks like you raised your cabinets above standard height based on the height of the stove and dishwasher. Is this just because of the lack of floor at the moment or was that planned? If planned, how do you plan on dealing with the different heights (countertop to stove etc...)?

My wife and I are tall and are considering this at the moment. Any info would be appreciated.

Well unfortuantely I don't think there's too much info I can give you, the extra height was really just an accident, the cabinets had to be shimmed up quite a bit especially around the stove. We're going to bring the stove up as much as we can when we install the tile so that it'll be even with the countertop. I'm actually rather short but I don't think it'll be a huge deal to me when it's all said and done.

Although my hardware is aged pewter, not black, it is exactly the same style as yours and looks exactly like it in the pics. What finish will be on your lighting? I need a chandelier and pendant in a not black or ORB finish--something lighter and brown/gold.

I'm mixing up all my finishes :) I just don't care. The faucet and the chandelier in over the eat-in kitchen table will be ORB and the pendant light over the sink (actually it's sitting on top of the dishwasher in the first picture is sort of pewter colored I guess and the shade is mercury glass. I freaking love this light and it was discontinued just after I found it. luckily another GW member happened to have 3 that she wasn't going to use and sold one to me :)
