Werird... Im not a great person yet, i do pick up very quickly though, i think it may stay alive, but your best bet is to get some parsley and dill, it could've been something in the fennel

Cats can get constipated, but 90% of the time when an owner says their cat is constipated it is really anorexic. Not eating= not pooping. Sometimes the cat is really dehydrated too. But rarely do I see a truly constipated cat, and 90% of the time, the real problem is a lot worse. I'd strongly advise seeing a vet ASAP because the cat could be a lot sicker than you imagine. If he is truly constipated, he'll probably need an enema which you probably won't want to try at home. The remedies listed above are excellent for PREVENTION of constipation but not so great at curing it, though sometimes they work. At 5 days of not pooping already, I'd be *very* concerned something more serious is going on. Do you see him straining in the litter box? That would be the definition of constipation- straining to defecate. If he's not straining, he's empty, and if he's empty, he's not eating, and if he's not eating, he's really sick. Hi Everyone, Thank you for the responses, suggestions, and advice. laurief - I found the links you sent to be very informative and helpful, thank you. So, as an update over the past few days... following my last post on Monday, I cleaned the litter-boxes and found that her stool had become more liquidy. I had been informed that if this happened, we would want to lower the dosage. Neither of the vets I had spoken to before was in, but it was recommended that I lower the dose and skip that night, and give her 2 doses the next day and that the nighttime vet I'd been in contact with previously (the one who initially saw and treated her) would call me the following evening. Her stool was liquidy again yesterday, so upon talking with the emergency night vet, we have lowered the dose further to 1 time per day, and as of today stool was back to normal. If this continues, the intent is to lower the dose further on Saturday to every other day, and take her off of it completely within the next week. (YAY!) I asked about the pumpkin, and the vet said that she has never tried this herself, but has heard of it working well and thought it was a good idea for me to try. I have also increased her canned food amount over the past couple days so that she is gettig some every day rather than as an occassional "treat." I have tried the Wellness before, as well as others, but since switching her to Innova she won't touch anything else, so I don't think a complete change in diet is an option right now. But I am going to cut back on the dry food and increase the wet food and try the pumpkin and see how she does. My cats are essentially my kids. They even have health insurance that rivals my own... so I'm going to try whatever I can to get her back to her regular old self!

Here are the two ingredients in wet food I read that should be avoided: Carrageenan (thickener made from seaweed) and guar gum (fiber that is too fermentable for cat guts). At least that's what I read. While Sebastian was on Royal Canin Rabbit & Potato high protein hypoallergenic food, he got both wet and dry. That diet alone did not firm his stool. Considering it cost $60 for an 8 oz bag, I switched to Natural Balance Duck & Green Pea. I also bought a can of wet Duck & Pea. After a few bites of the wet food, Sebastian threw up. Coincidence? Maybe. I still have a three cans. Perhaps I'll give it another try. But when I first started him on pumpkin with Duck/Green Pea, I saw good results, but it only lasted a week. Annz, I think it would be cruel to Sebastian to limit him to indoors only. He loves being outside. Besides, if he is eating prey outside (I've never seen him eat anything he caught) would that necessarily be a bad think -- isn't that a high protein raw diet?
