I figured out why my flea-less dog got fleas all of a sudden. It is his dog food! Nutro has changed it formula and dogs all over the country are getting ill and some dying. Ill dogs attract fleas. We are in the process of switching the dog to evo and the cat to merrick. Evo does not have fish flavors (that the cat prefers). Both are grain free formulas. The dog gets raw organ and beef 2 times a day, but nutro only in the morning. Hubby hates the thought of touching the raw stuff. I would never post something bad about a company like this except I can see the same symptoms in my corgi. The vet assumes urinary tract infection but can't get urine from him to test. Hi All! Well I guess I could say I weaned myself,with the help of my doctor.off HRTs. I tried a great variety from the onset of my menopause at 50. Tried Prempro pills first then premarin cream, vagifem suppositories, Combi Patch, and finally Femhrt,also garden variety health food store over counter progestone creams, phyto proleif order by mail. Yep you name it I tried it to fight the bad hot flashes night sweats,insomnia, heart palpitations. Just plain fatigue worn out menopausal lady. So now at 55 I think I have run the race , analyzed that each had its good and bad effects on me but in general doc agreed I must be allergic to estrogen products synthetic or otherwise.So I decided to quit altogether no more trials and errors. My flashes were pretty bad at first withdrawl wise, then lessened. I have only mild ones now, not to say they won't return with a vengeance. But my heart palps did lead me to a echocardiogram . Mitral valve prolapse as I may have mentio9ned in previous thread. Fibromyalgia plagues me from my bouts with insomnia, advil or motrim suffices for now. Do to my run down sleepless conditon and teaching and cold weather and bronchitis, well now I have pneumonia and a suspicious lung xray (non smoker) so must go to a pulmonary specialist on Tues. Ruled out blood clot from a blood test so either scar tissue or hopefully not some malignant growth. Oh well aging is certainly not boring, eventful yes. Wouldn't or couldn't have it any other way. I will eat liver of almost any sort...but I would prefer not to be the one that cooks it. But that is as far as I will go with organ meats. But now that I have read the part about "the liver cleans everything in the system...I like to know what's coursed through my organ meat", I may never eat it again. And this statement also made me rethink how much I love Rocky Mountain Oysters. LOL I will not eat any wild game. I have tried many different game meats...deer, elk, raccoon, bear, possum, duck, rabbit, wild boar...the list goes on. I am just not crazy about that "wild" taste. And it doesn't matter if it's been soaked in milk or whatever else they try to de-wild it with. :) I will also not eat tripe or sea urchin (had one in our salt water aquarium and just can't feature that). *shudder* I won't touch tuna...from a can, raw or otherwise. Tuna from a can looks and smells just like cat food to me. And when we were little, my older sister was responsible for feeding us dinner. She made tuna noodle casserole over and over and over. She was 10 and no one taught her (or any of us) to cook, so she is forgiven. We were even known to have saltine crackers crushed up in a bowl with Kool Aid on them. And most other fish is not appealing to me. Shellfish, however, is another matter. And milk. I will not drink milk. I read once that humans are the only mammal on Earth that drinks milk past the weaning stage. Milk is the one thing that will make me gag should I consider raising a glass to my lips. And watching someone else drink it? Ewwww SHUDDER. However, I will cook with it. Weird...I know. Other than that, I will eat just about anything and will at least try just about anything...once. I am sure I will think of something later that I won't eat. And we were raised by a step dad that forced us to eat everything on our plates. Everything. I never, ever made my kids eat something they didn't want to...and they are great eaters now.

Have you ever had or used this type of ice cream freezer? The ones I've used make the ice cream about as thick as soft-serve, and if you want it harder, you have to freeze awhile longer, in another container, after it reaches the soft-serve stage. It sounds like you had more liquid than what a recipe for this machine can use, and that's why it didn't get frozen. I make my ice cream mixture ahead of time and leave it in a stainless steel bowl/container in the freezer until ice crystals begin to form on the edge of the mixture to make sure it's as cold as possible. I also freeze the dasher. This will help it freeze a little faster. To rescue the peaches, I would make this filling recipe and use it as a dessert served with granola on the top or as a topping for ice cream. The peach gelatin powder (JELL-O and Great Value brand at Wal-Mart will also work) in the recipe is a flavor enhancer (especially good if the peaches don't have a lot of flavor) and the recipe won't work well without it. 1 c. water 3/4-1 c. sugar (use lesser amount if peaches are really sweet) 3 T. cornstarch 3 T. peach gelatin powder (use the regular JELL-O, not sugar-free) 4-6 peaches (depends on how large they are, but almost any number of peaches will work - if you have fewer peaches, just make a half-recipe) Cook water, sugar, and cornstarch in a pan until thickened. Add peach gelatin, stir in well. Add sliced peaches to this hot mixture. Cool until lukewarm, or refrigerate, before serving. (NOTE: If the peach slices are really large, you can cut them into smaller bite-size segments. I also like to use coconut palm sugar for a darker, almost caramel-like flavor, while using white granulated sugar makes a pretty lite pink/peach colored filling.
