Both are nice, do they both feel the same? ie does your hand go comfortably without feeling squished? What about DH? Can he fit his hand in both?

I like the top one the best. Perhaps it's a bit more unusual, and a little 'fancier'. I like the more fluid style.

Option 2 is more classic. It "feels" right to me with the style of the house, the checkerboard floor (elsewhere), the stained glass.

Re the scallopy pulls on the hutch, when you put Option 1 on the closest and farthest drawer in the same eyeline, does it look like it belongs? Like a sister? Or does your eye say, "oops" they don't match? There's plenty of contrast with Option 2, so it should go fine...but when you put it in the same places does the difference stand out in a bad way that Option 1 doesn't? Or does it look fun and eclectic?

If they are really and truly both equally good with the other furniture, and in the hand, then I vote 2. Unless you want to really mix it up and put one on one rank of cabinets, and the other on another. Make it look like they were built at different times :) A lived in, homey look :)

I prefer the second one.

I know next to nothing about period homes but as a graphic designer I prefer the option 1 design.

My preference for your style home is #2. I like #1 a lot but it has a more femanine formal feel to me.

I vote for #2. I think it goes better with your beautiful period home. Personally I wouldn't worry about the hardware matching, especially if you have separate pieces that are furniture style cabinets. As one poster said that gives it the separate time period look or I call it the 'inherited over the years' look. That's what I wanted in our kitchen but DH wouldn't go for it...

BTW I love your house. The porch, the stained glass windows the cabinets and especially the setting. Absolutely beautiful. May I ask what part of the country you are from?

I vote #2. Mostly because of my CURRENT personal design taste...I don't like a lot of curvy, scallopy designs. Funny how your tastes change though, if you had asked me 15 years ago, I would've gone for #1. I was going through my Victorian period back then. LOL!

Your house and property are beautiful! What state are you in?

Either would go well, but forced to pick, I would go with #2. I think it still has character but will blend better with any accessories you'll bring in later.

Your house is gorgeous. What an undertaking! And you are doing so well at documenting it. Like others, I am just crazy for your stained glass. Please continue to post pics as you progress!

I'm for the classic, plainer piece (#2), but that's what I'd usually choose. If you have 'scallopy' on the hutch, I'd let it have that distinction and let it stand out with the more detailed hardware.

Thank goodness I'm finally back online!! My local server was down off and on all week, and between that and the Gardenweb problems, I've been going nuts!

Thanks for all the responses on my pulls and also the comments about the house. We are in northern Arkansas.

As for the pulls, I see the vote seems heavily in favor of #2. That's the one my husband liked, too. Hmmm. In answer to the first couple of comments, I have not actually handled these. I'm planning to order them online, and these pictures are off the website. It is knobsplus.com.

BTW, my butcher block countertops were installed yesterday, which was very exciting! They're going to look beautiful once they are oiled and everything.
