If you need to choose by tomorrow you are in trouble unless you have a stroke of luck. I actually love the sound of what you are envisioning and of course TONS of people do two tone granite. I am only responding to this thread b/c recently it occured to me- why didnt I do that? I actually love my light granite on my cream perimeter and wonder if I would have liked something with darker tones on my dark island. That said, I dont think it would have been a great idea for my kitchen because it's another thing for the eye to process and my kitchen has a lot of detail as is. So it sort of depends on the space. Do you have a photo? Also, I think finding a cream granite is not easy. At least for me it wasn't. We ended up going with Western Sage Brush (cream base, taupe, silver and brown veins) and we like it but it wasn't an easy process finding something cream.

If I were going to mis-match granite I'd have to find elements i liked individually as well as that complimented each other. And so Im glad the idea didnt occur to me at the time as that would have extended granite shopping by probably a year, for me.

I like the idea of mis-matching too but either the cabinets or granite. Criss-crossing and mis-matching both is my concern.

Have you seen the Finished Kitchen Blog? Google it if you haven't seen it. I don't have the link in the iPad. There are tons of kitchens there and you will see two granites and two different cabs. I think it can be tricky to do and can look busy. I'm having a hard enough time finding 1! Finding two that coordinated might drive me over the edge.

Julie, I am doing cream cabinets and a dark brown island. The granite I chose for perimeter and island was giallo ornamental. I decided to keep the granite the same between the two. I don't know if that helps or not :(

I love the idea of mixing and if you can do it, Go for it.
Cream is one of those granite types that can be hard to find.
I think it depeneds on where you are if you can find
granite in short time. If you are in a large Metro area
like Boston, NYC (NJ), Miami, Chicago, Philly... you should
be able to find a large Granite Warehouse to be able to
choose your slabs. Perhaps your installer/fabricator can
direct you.

Cream Perimeter: Antique Brown or Labrador Antique Brown
Dark Chocolate island base: Kashmire White (hoping to bring out the cream in the granite with cream parimeter cabinets)

*I love the Colonial Cream but had some bad orange in there

OR...

Should I just do a Giallo Ornamento on the whole thing? I'm not crazy about it but feel like that is a safe choice.

I LOVE Giallo Ornamento--there is a darker brownish one & a lighter "white" one. (I like the white one a little better.)
I orginally picked the Colonial Cream and checked out my neighbor who just had it installed. It was way too orange for me, since my floors and cabinets already had slightly orange tint it would have been overkill!

I think you should do your first choice.
Antique Brown on cream perimeter cabinets.
Kashmir white on the dark chocolate island.

That would be beautiful to me.

Now take a brown marker and color in the island and
erase the granite here and you would see Kashmir white
would look so much better.

I will be mixing granites. Doing labradour antique on the island and bianco romano on the perimiter. I searched and researched countertops for months, and the labradour antique was a last minute addition. I am so excited for them to be installed (this friday!).
I say go for the 2 toned look. It will look beautiful. Antique brown is a fairly easy granite to pair up because although it is "fleck-filled" the colour is pretty uniform. When choosing the cream granite, I would bring your cab sample to the granite yard, to see what goes best.

I have a darkish rusty tone marble on my island and bullet proof Desert Mahogany granite on my permimeter. i love the cream color idea. Sometimes i wish my island was more durable so what about Caeserstone or another manmade or quartz in a cream color? Some photos in this thread.

Update...I'm in Chicago and found a new granite place with some gorgeous Colonial Cream granite. I was all set to do Antique Browm and a cream but now that I found this beautifu piece I have decided to go all the way through with it.

Now I need sink. I have ORB hardware and stainless appliances. What do you think of a copper sink with an ORB faucet and my stainless appliances? I won't have any copper in the kitchen accept the bits of gold/copper through out the cream granite. I have not found any ORB sinks anywhere. If an ORB sink would be better - please let me know where to get it.

Please let me know what you think about the copper sink!
