Water retention.........
Comments (5)Hi fangdangle, I am on "Combipatch" which is progesterone/estrogen. It sticks like glue. I've NEVER had one come off! But......after a year of wearing it, it started itching like crazy, and leaves a red spot where the old ones were. But, I refused to make a change......so I tolerate the itching! I change it 2 times a week. I went off it last October, because I have fibromyalgia, and I was wondering if it was actually making my symptoms worse. Boy was I wrong!! I began a downward spiral, and was frightened into putting it back on in early January. It took awhile to stabilize again. But I feel real different these days......like maybe my overall estrogen is alot lower than ever. I was hoping not to need HRT, but going without it causes me lots of headaches, and really worsens my fibromyalgia symptoms. I originally chose the patch over a pill, because of my hormonal headaches. It seems to deliver a more consistent, even dose of hormone. I would really like my ovaries to die!! I am so tired of feeling badly. Alot has to do with fibromyalgia, but a whole lot also has to do with perimenopause. Good luck, and I don't mind the questions......that's how we learn! :)...See MoreSuccess Story -- quitting Premarin for 1 yr
Comments (5)Hi Qinz, I'm very happy for you! I was forced on HRT about 5 years ago, when I had a horrible vaginal bleed, and needed a D&C. The doc had me on lots of estrogen to keep from repeat bleeding. When I tried to come off it, my Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue got soooooo much worse, so back on I went. 2 years later I tried to come off my combi-patch, and the same thing happened. I gave it 2 months, and I kept getting sicker and sicker. I don't get hot flashes. I have, in the past few years, lost alot of faith in the medical community. Money is at the root of all the decisions made, and not the best thing for us......... So, now I'm rethinking this combipatch. But.....I'm not as lucky as you.........I appear to get sooooooo much sicker with the Fibromyalgia when I try to come off it. I truly believe that our bodies get "addicted" to extra hormones, and it becomes almost like going through detox to get off them. I will start to think about trying it again. Good luck to you!...See MoreWeight gain on HRT
Comments (12)cheerful1, is your husband a health minded person, or is he obsessive about looks and body? It sounds pretty unreasonable (to me) for him to get angry over 5 pounds of weight gain. Are there other things about you that he criticizes, or is it just the weight? Is he at all interested in what is going on inside your heart and your head? If he is genuinely concerned about you and your health, that could be positive. If, otoh, you are overly sensitive about his criticism, and you don't feel good about yourself, it could just be that you are feeling particularly sensitive. I know I have that tendency myself. I have a habit of expecting perfection out of myself, and I tend to over-react to anything I perceive as negative from DH (or anybody else for that matter). I have worked really hard at correcting this, and it is somewhat better, but that old habit tries to creep back in with persistence. Is the weight really an issue with you, or is it just bringing other stuff to the surface? I'm truly sorry you have having to deal with this, and I wish I could do or say something to help. Just go ahead and express all the frustration you need to here. We're all in this at the same time, and we are happy to listen :) Mrs H...See MoreWeird Adrenalin Rushes
Comments (194)Hello! I am SO grateful that I came upon this thread while google-ing “Adrenalin Rushes and PeriMenopause.” First and foremost (and as stated by many): it is such a relief to know I am not the only one out there! I have had these Adrenalin rushes for over a year now. First time I had them, I rushed to the hospital convinced I was having a heart attack. That started a period of health anxiety that consumed me. My normal doc put me on Lexapro for anxiety, but it had no effect and, if anything, made me more anxious. I am no longer taking it. I went to CBT, I tried bio-identical hormones and, most recently, I found a gynecologist who put me in BCPs (I’m 48). That gynecologist also told me this was part of peri menopause and PMS. She gave me a prescription for a benzo - but I am so paranoid about taking them that I only use it when absolutely necessary. Not sure if anyone else can relate, but I also get amazing levels of tension if my neck and shoulders - to the point that you can feel the muscle knots! Big Sigh. I have an appointment with a different gynecologist who specializes in menopause at the end of the month. What has worked for me is a prescription for Trazadone at night. I also only take a very low dose (25 mg) and it puts me to sleep despite the anxious feelings in my chest. No side effects in the morning. I have not been good about taking my CALM supplements and will turn that around starting tonight. I also started the KETO diet and have cut sugar and carbs - and I feel so much better for it!! Maybe it will help with the Adrenalin as well. Anyway - it’s a constant battle but I refuse to give up. I just want to feel normal again and have faith that there is a solution for me out there. If I find it, I will certainly let you know. Thanks to all for reading and sharing your own stories! K...See Moreplumbly22
