Design issues with the 'stone' switch plates on backsplash

I also posted this on the Kitchens forum but wanted to try here too since this is more of a design question. We are a week and a half away (I will post pics) from our minor kitchen remodel. We decided to do 4x4 cream stone with copper tile inserts so I'm looking to do switchplates that will fade into the backsplash. I found these textured stone resin ones as the custom stone are way too expensive (starting at $29 ea). I need some insight to how these are from a design and durability perspective. We have spent $3K more than my husband wanted to spend and we haven't started yet. I don't want to make a design mistake that will cost us more money. Thank you!!
