The white driver side armrest on my mid-80s GM car is vinyl and cracked (passenger side is pristine). Rather than attempting to use a 'repair' kit, I bought a hunk of hide dyed white and is 2mm thick. I intend to cut a piece to fit the armrest area. That piece will look like the letter D, with the straight side toward the door panel. My concern has to do with the curved side and what I can do with the exposed cut. I'd like to have it look decent at least. I plan to solvent clean the area, use 3M masking tape over the splits and then contact cement the leather to the area. (should work, right?) Hi brennajones1! Thanks for bringing this thread back! I'm actually prepping/priming my eat-in kitchen TODAY! Paint will go on Tuesday, after the primer cures. A second coat, if necessary, will go on Thursday, as well as any touch-ups. Saturday morning we'll put up the new curtains, and pictures on our accent wall. At 1:00 PM Saturday, my daughter Joy and I are hosting about a dozen women for a garden party! FUN!! We've decided to paint one room a month until the entire interior is done, even though at least some, if not all, the interior walls will be replaced some day. Originally, we had decided not to put any $$ into updates before remodeling. But our complete, subfloor to ceiling do-over is literally a ten year plan. So we've decided to put a few hundred dollars into paint in order for freshen things up. By the way, Iast January I bought an old, 1979 MH in dreadful condition due to neglect and the previous owners being hoarders. I have the dark, fake wood paneling throughout. In three rooms, they decided to paint, then quit part way through. No priming, no tape, no tarps, so lots of paint on carpets, etc. All hideous, super dark colors. And wherever their brushes were when they got tired of it is where they quit. Not in a straight line or anything, lol! Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question. You can do a search here because there are dozens of threads devoted to painting MH walls! And maybe try it in a small area where it wouldn't be noticeable. Good luck! These are all great questions. One thing I know is there is no asbestos. Thats one problem out of the way. The house was in excellent condition in 1960 (I have photos and know the woman who lived here then, so thats one other thing that is on the up side. The house was vinylized in about 1970. One of my concerns is that the vinyl is preventing moisture from properly escaping from the house, thereby rotting it from the inside. All of the non-masonry houses on this block are painted wood and the wood is in pretty darned good condition. that doesnt mean mine is, but they all have been exposed to the same elements for the same length of time and were all built within a few years of one another. One thing I know is that the back porch, which was enclosed in about 1948, had vinyl that we removed to the old wood siding and it was, of course, in excellent condition, so I am hopeful that the rest of the house is in at least good condition and wont need significant repairs or stripping. If it is, well, we can always re-side it. One thing I read about painting Vinyl is that dark colors will make it warp. Thanks for mentioning the value question - my house is only as valuable as the neighborhood. Sometimes I do tend to get carried away and forget about location - isnt it sad so many wonderful old houses are in less than perfect neighborhoods. Thankfully, all the neighbors here are significantly improving their property so were kind of hopeful at the least well make our neighborhood into a more desirable place to live.

Squirt silicone under and tape it down for a day. It'll be fine.
