Well, we had our Arbor Day Event at school on Tuesday the 13th so that by the time the REAL Arbor Day came around I almost forgot it. By the way, those seedlings that we got from the Georgia Forestry Commission were HUGE. They must have been 3-4 years old and most of them were 2-3 feet tall. The bus driver supervisor contacted the school to complain the next day because they were SO big that he felt they impaired the drivers' ability to see. Oops. Orders for trees can placed starting July 1, 2007 for delivery December 1 through February (delivered no charge to your county office). See the link below, this is such a good deal. We had a few extra Quercus Georgiana seedlings, so I did spend some time potting those up for future use. And I ordered 50 pine seedlings for my own yard, so I spent some time yesterday clearing out an area overgrown with smilax and then planting them. My neighbor has cut down just about every tree on his side of the property line so I wanted to add a few trees back on MY side for a buffer. He hopes to put a pool there one day, I want to make sure that I don't have to look at it! The upcoming warm trend (check your 10 day forecast) looks like a welcome change!
