Cream & White Bedding for Eileen

This thread is NOT for ANYTHING but more pictures and ideas for Eileen (((ThreeGrad)))!!!

Eileen, I have had a cream & white MBR now for several years. The bedskirt is now in need of replacing and so is the comforter, but am posting a few pics of the room so you can get an idea of how one more person has done a room in cream & white.

I really love the peacefulness and quiet beauty (IMHO) of our room. It's warm and cozy in Winter and looks cool in Summer, as well. The comforter, bedskirt and king shams are cream. The walls are Mt.Ranier White; sheer drapes are from JCPenney and are cream. Crochet throw is a bit darker cream and the front shams are white with a dark cream/gold edging. I use three sets of sheets with this: one solid cream, one solid white and the last has soft pink & green flowers on a white background. I've tried to keep the colors I bring into this room very soft, just soft rose and green really.

My only frustration is that I hate using a full/queen comforter. We have a queen-size bed and it's a PIA to constantly tuck up the sheet and blanket. I was just out looking for a replacement comforter or bedspread and bedskirt yesterday, but had no luck. I'm hoping to get some ideas here.

Eileen - have you tried Rate My Space on HGTV's website? I haven't looked on there in some time, but seems I remember several of the spa or hotel bedrooms with alot of the whites.

What a great deal! We don't have a Dillards, but if we did, I'd be racing out to find the same duvet even though we're watching our budget because of our remodel and I need another duvet like I need another hold in my head! I just can't pass up bargains though. Keep telling my husband that I'm really "saving" us money, by not paying full price! My daughter has an antique iron bed that was refinished in ivory with a brown glaze, so it's definitely off-white. Her sheets, quilt, and dust ruffle are bright white, while her duvet is an ivory/cornflower blue/red floral print. Her walls are a dark cream color. I posted pics here when I was trying to decide if I needed to go with ivory sheets to coordinate with the bed and duvet and received advice that the white and ivory would work together well - which turned out to be true. They really complement each other nicely. I love your mirrored nightstand and crystal mirror!

LOL, I'm right with you kiki! I fell in LOVE with that comforter, so decided to make it myself. Wow, was it ever WORK! I bought my fabric from fashionfabricsclub, after getting lots of samples. It's a washable silk charmeuse. To make the tufts, I just stitched a circle, reinforcing with felt, then stuffing with a little round tuft I got from the craft store, cinched the circle, then sewed around it like crazy from the backside. The effect is beautiful, but I'd never in a million years do it again. That silk charmeuse is terrible to work with - 17 yards of stretch and slink = nightmare to cut! Here's a picture of the finished comforter. That quilt is also from GH, in Copper. It washes wonderfully! notice I edited out the treadmill in the picture. ;-)

Les, that's funny, I just looked on JCP last night and found that first one, which I love! I just wish it didn't come as a whole set, since I already have a bed skirt I can use with it. This is also to replace a comforter that I just bought a few months ago...decided since then to go with a whole different color scheme... so I also wish it were less expensive! But it is definitely a contender. I like it much more than the other two.

OH my Gosh that sounds delicious!!! I'm saving that one to make. Even tho my husband wouldnt eat it due to the gorgonzola cheese. The Brat. I'll have to wait until there is someone here who will appreciate it. Thanks for posting the recipe, sounds like a real keeper.

Lynn, Rose Tree, Waterford, and I think some of Ralph Lauren are brands that do oversize comforters for taller mattresses.

Threegrad, sorry, but on the other thread I referred to you as 3D(threedog).

I was just at Ikea, and they have some beautiful things in cream and white, and LOTS of comforters/duvets~their prices are great! I looked at sort of a silky duvet, queen size, for $59~it was also available in a Mocha color. There were little flowers on a small portion, but in the same color as the duvet. Go to their web site, i'm sure you can see it there.

pattycakes I've seen that at Ikea and it's gorgeous - also comes in a fabulous dark Chinese red.

Eileen I love the white/cream combo - it always looks serene. I recently saw a bedrom with cream bedding and walls the color of a manilla envelope that was TDF. If I can track the magazine or book it was in, I'll scan it for you.

I don't have any fresh ideas for Eileen about the bedding, but Lynn! Your bedroom! I have some design books on southwest decor (not all western stuff) and your room could rival those in the book any day. It looks like a Bed and Breakfast room...I know I would sure want to stay there. Just lovely.

Lynne, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy looking at your lovely home. My mom and sister live in Santa Fe, and your rooms always make me wish I were there. I've adopted some of the New Mexico style in our own home, along with a lot of art that we have brought back with us. Love your creamy bedding, too. Say hello to that beautiful sky for me! I'll be visiting in Feb. and can't wait.

Thanks you! I've since reworked the fireplace area twice. Here's a pic of it, although I've since removed the fairy statue to simplify it even more.
