Hi Breezy - thanks for asking!! ya know - i haven't totally decided but now my GC (a very creative woman whose was a architect first) has offered some new ideas and Im stuck. She has used his place that hand makes tiles and they do this one that is long thin bars in 4-5 sizes, and then they are installed very randomly... oh i love it! but im not sure it's in our budget. but now that i've seen it!!! Ack! i think i might use a woman who can see my space and help me chose some coloring options. I really want the white and cool grey and carrara but im not a "cool" color person and my whole house is warm neutrals. We have to repaint the entire downstairs anyway, so if she can help me get centered with my colors, hopefully the kitchen will fall into place better. *whines*.. this is so haaaard!!!! :D where are you with all of your choices? oh here's the link to that tile place - beautiful stuff!!! I am embarking down this road as I patiently await my countertops. I am wondering if anyone who has done this can tell us what they spent, and whether it still feels like an easy-to-clean surface? I live in Utah, called four glass places, and two of them install glass backsplashes (two didn't answer their phone or return my call). The one who would give me an estimate said $35/square foot, and this includes sandblasting the back and painting with a specialty paint (like an automotive paint). Install would be another $85/hour. The glass type was not specified, though I could certainly call and ask.. I am looking at a 10-foot x 1.5 foot backsplash, meaning maybe $600 installed. I would love to hear about other people's experiences.

Monica,,,i've never seen a solid panel of stained glass as a backsplash. these stained glass come in sheets, but I don't think they come in large enough single sheets to do the wall. you would have to get pieces . Don't know how that would look. you could call a company that makes the glass and see if you could custom order one to the size you need. As for the back painted glass, they cut the glass to your size specs and use a special paint meant for glass
