Looking for Motion Sensor Outdoor Light?
Comments (4)Solars are very unpredictable for the most part. I would check Amazon and read reviews. I just went through this but i already have hardwire and just wanted the motion activated feature so that was easy. I just have a single flood (CFL) and it is fine for entry but not especially bright as it takes a minute to warm up but i did not want to be 'flooded' with light...just needed entry, dog walking etc. and still plenty to get things in and out of the car. My solar on the back deck gets full sun and still had trouble and now no longer works after about one year. I've stopped looking at those but maybe something better is out there now. And disregard reviews right out of the box. Pay attention to those that have had the product for some time. I think the third one you posted needs hardwire....See MoreConverting outdoor lights to motion sensitive?
Comments (2)Advantage Light Source makes a motion flood light that is battery operated and uses LEDs. The batteries last about a year. It is great to add without electricity. Just screw it up to the wall or overhang. It is rated for outdoors. I recently had 6 installed for a lady that lives alone and wanted to light her stairs outside and the corner of her house. It is ample light to see to get in and out safely or alert if someone comes up. Very reasonable and requires no electricity. Comments (14)Wireless consumer cameras usually transmit the video information over a 2.4Ghz frequency as an analog or digital signal - the same used by your wireless internet, cordless phone, and microwave oven - very crowded and prone to interference and errors. Wireless IP cameras use the same frequency but on your home wireless network - but still prone to interfernce and DHCP issues created after a power failure or glitch. The best answer is a hard-wired camera/DVR solution (such as the Swann units from Costco with CCD cameras w/IR illumination) that connects to your LAN or the internet using DDNS hosting. While you can use one of the cameras as a "baby-monitor" they usually don't include audio due to state/federal laws, and it may not be the best solution as you need a computer/tablet with you at all times. Most people often feel more comfortable with stand-alone wireless camera/handheld monitor with audio that they can carry from room to room with them....See MoreNeed recommendation for outdoor LED down light mounted in tree
