Let me start off by saying this...I have a year+ old whirlpool cabrio clothes washer...top model at Lowes when I bought it...6600 model I believe. Absolutely love this washer/dryer set...best I've ever owned.
4 days ago, I washed some coats on cold. Nothing special about it. I left the lid open (as I always do) and went along my merry way. No one has been down in the basement since then.
Fast forward to tonight. I went down to do a load of laundry, and to my surprise the lid (still up) had about a thousand cracks in the glass!!
There is no obvious impact point, just a random variety of silver-dollar to pencil-tip-eraser sized pieces (thankfully) contained in the lamination of the glass. In fact, the lid still retains a good amount of rigidity, and has no sharp edges.
Any ideas why this would happen to the lid?
And more importantly, any chance that silly extended warranty I bought from Lowes will cover the charge of replacing the lid??
