Can I have incandescant lights in a pantry 'closet'?

I am having 2 "closets" (with french doors), for lack of a better word, put in in my dining room- one will house fine china, and the other will be a pantry/coffee/snack area. They will have base cabinets all the way across the interior width, with a linen skirt on rings.

I want the space to look pretty, because you will see it through the glass which will be visible from the entire first floor. Do I have to use a fluorescant light, or incadescant?
