Thanks, Roseabbey. I'm glad you like the stools I'm considering. I agree the bench is weird - its one of those things we had and are trying to make work. Another place I have tried it is in front of the fireplace.. but maybe it just needs to go...

Regarind the little table, its kind an artistic piece and I wanted something smaller in scale just to put a drink on if needed.

I am glad that you will not be using the side table with the Queen Anne legs in this room althought the height and size is correct for the sofa. Also the bench is not working either. The side table should be close to the height of the sofa arm so the lamp will illuminate the sofa properly for reading. How tall is that Queen Anne table? Get new tables about that same height.
I like the rug and the sofa too.

Bring in some more decorative items with the colors in your rug. The rug is beautiful and you could build your room around it's colors. Maybe some throw pillows with more of the red and, is that olive green I see in the rug?

How about if you put the Queen Anne table over in the living room.

I love the mixing of woods and styles...things don't have to match~

Your home looks lovely. I would get rid of the bench..it gives the visual effect of 2 coffee tables in a row. On my monitor, the walls look white? I might prefer a bit more color with the lovely richness of your sectional and rug. The queen Ann table is okay, but not ideal. I like the look of the smaller wood end table, but am wondering how it works for you from a functional viewpoint? Love the potential barstools and the textural impact they will provide.

My DH thinks he won the yellow bench debate. He never wanted it there! HA! Now it has found a home at the end of a bed in the guest room. The walls are an off-white... I like the idea of adding color to the walls, but the room doesn't get much light - will that make it darker? The queen ann table has found its way to the living room ("lack luster living room... mirror post) and I have ordered a more casual, lighter wood to replace it. Regarding the small table, it is actually quite functionable... nice to have a spot to put a drink.

Your fireplace area needs something. It's too blank. Maybe a picture over the fireplace opening or a fireplace mantel. Where the picture is now a large plant would look nice.

I agree, some more color on the walls would look good, but not too dark. Something like in your living room or just a tiny bit darker. I really like the sofa and rug together.

Well, I see the bench is gone, I agree with the poster who mentioned it looked like dual coffee tables. Plus your DH thinks he won, so how bad can that be? LOL

You need more lighting, so perhaps a floor lamp behind the center corner of the sectional, or at least a lamp on the cabinet behind it.

I don't like the queen anne table in here, but I believe it has since moved into the LR. The small table is kinda cool, but I would move it out away from the end of the couch a bit, so it stands as an interesting piece and will feel more important.

I think your rug needs to be turned the other direction - It will flow better with the space.

I would think about sliding the tv and cabinet over to the right, and you would have room for another chair there; perhaps one of the extra yellow ones from the LR? The other one could go in the corner between the kitchen and family room, where the little cabinet is in the pix, that has now gone to the LR as well.

Your fireplace is cool, and if the pix is telling the true story, the right half of the fireplace sticks out further than the left. I would do some kind of paint treatment to accentuate that. Perhaps paint the right side that sticks out, above the hearth to the ceiling, in a deeper shade of the wall color. Then pull a red from the rug and do the receding part of the fireplace in that color, as well as the brick under the hearth. Paint the hearth ledge the deep brown of your couches.

Try the sunburst mirror over the firebox itself. Take down the other art, and let the colors be the art. You could add a long, low rectangular planter on the right side of the fireplace, filled with sgrasses, reeds, etc. or bamboo with a layer of river rock covering the soil (if you use real plants) or the foam (if you use dried or faux.

I think you need color.
If the walls were painted the fireplace might not read as just another wall. Your trim will pop more. Your floors will pop more. Right now there's just not enough contrast in the room IMO.
I'd pull the sagey green or the gold out of the rug and paint the walls. You could then paint the fireplace wall a lighter or darker shade of that color.
I LOVE your furnishings and the layout of the room. It's cozy and comfortable and it has a ton of potential.
