Am I too short for stacked W/D?

In our new build, I had them vent and put in the plumbing for a stacked W/D as that is what I would like in my new laundry room. I am about 5'2" and now am wondering if I am too short to comfortably use the dryer (I'm also 64 and this is our retirement home so will only be getting older...LOL). Anyone here about my height and comfortable using their stacked W/D? I don't want the smaller size. Even though it is just my husband and I, the kids and grandkids visit often and we have a pool..so lots of towels.

check at the major appliance stores, they may have a stacked set on display.

This is probably different, but I remember visiting a laundromat undergoing remodeling where they were replacing the old top loaders with new front loaders. They built a shelf (pedestal) to mount all of them at least a foot off the floor. I will say that if I had my stack a foot off the floor it would make the reaching the dryer controls a bit of a stretch. And I'm 6'.

Ask in the laundry forum. I stacked my LG pair. The center of the dryer door is at nose-level. I did not use their stands, the washer is on the floor. I don't have any issues with reaching the dryer controls, I'm 5'11". I did have to move the dryer plug a little bit up the wall for the cord to reach. They do make longer cords.

Look for the Samsung with VRT (with Vibration Reduction Technology) ... it is simple to use and a reliable laundry pair! The WP Duet with 4.0 capacity in their washers is definitely a much higher rated and more reliable laundry pair than the Frigidaire is and I believe it costs much less! Furthermore, the WP Duet has been around for the longest time, has the least number of problems and easy to fix should anything go wrong! They have been consistently listed in the consumers ratings over the years! On the down side, the WP Duet and the Frigidaire are belt driven while the Samsung is a Direct Drive! Speak to a sales person at a place like Sears, the Bay or The Brick (all canadian) if you want some more information on these pairs! All these machines are stackable, but separate units! You do not have to dispose both if one of them fails! And you will require a stacking kit that costs anywhere from CAD 19.99 to CAD 39.99. Pay for the features she wants not for the price of the machine! Sturdy, reliable and easy to handle! In short, the best value for your money!

Water, drain, electrical/gas, and dryer exhaust connections and moving the machines must be reasonably / easily accessible for emergency (leaking) shut-off, maintenance (dryer exhaust cleaning), and servicing or replacement (the machines will fail, probably sooner than expected). A service discussion site I follow has many stories of access challenges on which servicers either charge substantial additional costs or outright refuse to take the job. Some may require that the homeowner DIY (or hire someone else) to move the machines out and reinstall them ... but that may also entail the servicer taking the unit off-site for the repair because it may not be operable for troubleshooting and testing the repair when removed from a cubbyhole, away from power and plumbing connections.

You can still buy the LG w/adaptable control panel, which can be put on the bottom of the dryer so if it sits on top of the washer those two control panels are above each other just in front of you.It is LG DLE 9577. I have this set for over 2 years and I love it. It can also be set side by side and the dryer door is reversible. I'm not sure if stores still carries this model but it is on line so go check it out.

They have the set for about 2000 dollars, no tax and free shipping. Either in white or titanium.
Check you local repair shops to find out if they will service it in case something goes wrong.

O.K.,I have to apologize, the web site popped older page and the dryer is no longer available but I did check internet and there are few sites still selling this model. Just type the model number in your search and see what comes out.

Thanks, czechchick2 and regas_patoff. We are rural and live quite a ways from a major appliance dealer, but I think I will finaly make the trip and just stand in front of them and see if I'm tall enough.
