Tell me about your favorite sheets from The Company Store

For the next 3 days they're offering free shipping. Love their Velvet Flannel (thanks to Olychick's recommendation!) and would like to try a set of cotton sheets for the summer months.

I ordered a set of organic sheets that were very low quality. So thin I can see through them.

I'm not seeing reviews on any of the ones I'm interested in. I think I'll pass. Although I'm tempted to order another set of the Velvet Flannels. The LLBean flannels are just taking up precious space in the linen closet. They don't compare.

You all have helped convince me to buy a King of Spades spade and a one-sided bevel grafting knife, but I'm still trying to figure out some details. On the spade, do you all prefer a long handle or a D-handle? I did use a King of Spades brand spade once digging bamboo at someone else's place. He had the kind in the link below. I just showed the picture to my wife and explained how it worked, saying it was kind of like a built-in T-post driver, to which she asked why one couldn't just drive a long-handled metal spade with a regular T-post driver. I suppose the feasibility of that idea might be obvious if I actually had a regular, long-handled spade in hand, but I'm curious now. But apart from that idea I would be leaning toward the D-handle as it would seem less likely to bend/break since I wouldn't be able to exert as much leverage on it as with the longer handle. Or should I go for as much leverage as I can get, because these things are so heavy it won't matter? On the knife, I saw a one-sided bevel knife at a local hardware store this week that they call a "floral knife." I almost bought it, but then I remembered the orchardist that taught the grafting class that got me started recommended carbon steel over stainless steel, and this knife was stainless. What's the practical difference between stainless and carbon steel, and which would you want for a grafting knife? Also, with a one-sided bevel will it be like a chisel such that I need to start paying attention to which way the bevel is facing when I make cuts, and if so, which way should I turn it? Thanks for all the feedback. Here are some of the trees/fruit crops varieties I am considering planting. I'll have to narrow this down, of course. Or will I? muhuhahahaha.... CHERRY (2) - Lapins, Sweetheart (I said I wasn't into cherries, but then I saw some pictures of them and they mad me hungry so I changed my mind) APRICOT (3) - Harglow, Puget Gold, Westley (too late?), Tlor-tsiran??? PEACH (3) - Avalon Pride, Blazingstar, HW 272 sound like the best three. Other choices might include Charlotte, Contender, Harbelle, Harrow Diamond, Juneprince, Mary Jane, Oregon Curl-Free, Q 1-8, Redstar, Reliance, Starfire, Veteran? NECTARINE (2) - Fantasia?, Hardired, Kreibich, Harko? PLUM (3) - sounds like a lot of them do fine here, but my top 3 are probably Beauty, Hollywood, Shiro APPLE (5) - Akane, September Wonder/Jubilee, Chehalis, Honeycrisp, Liberty, Pristine, William's Pride PEAR (4) - Bartlett (have to have a Bartlett), Blake's Price, Moonglow, Orcas, Rescue ASIAN PEAR (3) - (still deciding) Shinseiki for sure. Others.... Nijesseiki, Chojuro, Shinko, Mishirasu, Hamese? RASPBERRIES (and relatives) - Autumn Bliss, Caroline, Summit, Tulameen, Boysenberry, Marionberry, Tayberry, Thornless Loganberry, Willamette BLUEBERRIES (I will plants lots, they do great in Sequim) - Berkeley, Bluecrop, Little Giant, Olympia, Sunshine, Top Hat, Toro KIWIFRUIT - Exbury (sounds like the earliest ripening fuzzy type), Saanichton (will it ripen?), male fuzzy, 74/49, Ken's Red, Ananasnaya, Meader, Geneva, male arguta GRAPES - Agria, Campbell's Early??? (will it ripen?), Canadice, Einset?, Interlaken Seedless, Jupiter?, Lynden Blue (sounds like a winner), Madeline Angevine (wine), Price, Regent, Reliance, Valiant?, Vanessa FIG - Atreano, Desert King, Lattarula, Stella?, Vashon Violet/Brunswick OLIVE - Arbequina, Mission CHESTNUT - I want to plant two or three but they are big trees. Lots to choose from on the Burnt Ridge Nursery web site. PISTACHIO - Uzbek (I'm sure that won't work but I have to try...LOL anyways it's hardy and the flowers are cool) ALMOND - All in one, HallÂs Hardy, Reliable, Dessertiny (Bounty?) PINEAPPLE GUAVA - Nikita (sounds like the earliest ripening one), a pollinator Some other things like mulberries aren't out of the question.... we'll see. I don't want to get too carried away just yet. I also have to be careful of not planting things that need a lot of heat or ripen too late. Apparently I only get about 1400 growing degree days in an average season.

This is a great thread. We all love what we collect and isn't it wonderful that most of us collect something different? I collect blue and white Staffordshire Transferware from England, early to mid 1800's. I have over 100 Cup Plates, a little more or less than 4" diameter. They were used as a coaster with the handless cups with bowl shape saucer of 6" from the 1820-1850 period. Often confused with a child's plate from a toy tea set. I also have many patterns of dinner ware pieces of a specific potter E. & G Phillips, Longport England. American butter stamps, butter churns and English cream pots with dairy names stamped or transfered on the pot and numerous other things too many to list. I am just addicted to antiques and collectibles. I also clean and repair and resale and upgrade my English china. So my life is a constant buy, clean, repair, resale, collect more upgrade..etc. I tell my husband I am recycling and being green! I love,love, love what I do. I cannot imagine not ever being able to buy and also resale to share my knowlegde. I also have an extensive library of reference books and love researching everything.

And if you happen to be near a Daltile design center you should definitely make an appointment and look at all the samples - they had other makers too. Like a kid in a candy store! sayde, I got crackle subways from Tilecrest - Montecito collection. Not as many choices, but they had a cream color that worked for me and the cost was about half for nearly identical tile from Sonoma. I have several sets of flannel sheets from the Company Store. I order them when I see a pattern that catches my fancy, that matches my bedroom style. I cannot say that the quality is any better than the ones I've purchased from Land's End over the years, but the patterns are what draw me to the product.

That said, this year, I was incredibly disappointed. I fell for a flannel print and ordered a queen duvet cover and a pair of pillow cases early in the fall (my experience has been that you have to get in early or lose). Well, I still lost. They kept delaying the date of shipment and delay delay delay only to call me right before Christmas and cancel the order altogether.

Not like I ran across anything else that I passed on to wait for theirs, but good luck to you if you order from them.

thank you! i will order the velvet flannels too...i bought a set of velvet flannel type a couple of yrs ago from macy's (only set i saw and haven't seen them since)and they are absolutely the coziest set of flannel sheets i have ever slept in---i love crawling into bed with them-sooo much nicer than regular flannel! another set of similar sheets would be great!

I was one of the people who raved about the velvet flannel. I still LOVE them, but was so disappointed that they only have the solid colors now. I bought a few sets (after I tried the first one and fell in love with them) with some really pretty patterned duvet covers so I don't have to use a top sheet. Now I see they only have the solids, which feel just as nice, but no patterned duvet covers :-(.

I just rec'd a set of the T-shirt sheets. I slept on them at a friend's guest cottage and they were just like sleeping on a favorite t-shirt. I am hoping the current ones hold up well - I had a set from Marshall's years ago that literally fell apart.

Glad to know they have good flannels. I love Garnet Hill flannels, wore completely through a set of Bean flannels in two seasons - not worth the $$ (although, to be fair, they did replace the set, no questions asked).

Now I'm thinking of ordering a duvet cover. Has anyone purchased these from the company store? I'm wondering about the quality and how they wash. The one I have now I have to iron it before I put it back on and that's a pain!
