I have a 10x11 bathroom, including the potty "alcove". I have a 100w dimmer next to the toilet. A 100w dimmer over the tub, 3 60w recessed dimmers...two are above the 5' vanity and one behind them closer to the bathroom door. No windows. I wish I had sconces on each end of the vanity. The recessed lights just don't cut it for critiquing one's hair in the mirror. BUT, some of that is because of where the two over the vanity are placed. I wanted them centered over the edge of the vanity but my electrician bil thought they should be centered over the depth of the vanity so that's where they went. I have to lean in towards the mirror for good lighting. How about one recessed light in the center of the room. I think the sconces at the sinks will be enough. Actually, before the bath remodel (footprint was not changed, I only had two hanging (swag) lights. One on each end of the 6ft vanity. 100w each. It was PLENTY of light for the entire bathroom. Tongue and groove ceiling is beautiful and good for you for not ruining it with canned lighting. My family's house was built in the late 1800's (about 4000 sq. ft. including additions over the years). Lots of natural light. NO recessed lighting was ever added in order to preserve the beautiful, pre-war architecture. The house is well lit with lamps, chandeliers, and old hanging fixtures. (ceilings are 9'6"). Undercabinet lighting was added in the kitchen. Obviously, you don't see it, but provides enough light for a large kitchen, PERFECT. We are currently building a fairly large, custom home. I told my architect several months ago that I wanted NO recessed lighting in the house, ANYWHERE. To help with lighting, i've added extra windows, hanging fixtures where necessary, sconces and undercabinet lighting in the kitchen for "task lighting". However, i am adding a lot of tongue and groove paneling (including ceiling) and i think recessed lighting is very distracting (even including recessed lighting in high end homes). Well placed fixtures and lamps where necessary seem to be enough lighting for me.

I think it will give off a decent amount of light. If you are set on that lighting, we would suggest spending a little extra on under cabinet LED strip lighting. This will light up your counter area, giving direct light only on that area. That way you wont have to worry about ceiling lights reaching to the counter, or shadow conflict. Hope this helps!

Does anybody have the 8 up light (60 Watts each) by Justice Design? I am considering it for over my 5 by 3 foot kitchen table.
