Do you have a sample of the Silestone Lagoon to look at with your tile. I think you are right that it might look slightly off but it's hard to know with out seeing it in person. I also think it might be difficult to find a solid white countertop that will play well with both the white in the tile and your white countertops. Maybe you should concierge a light to medium tone gray countertop. It will provide a little contrast and keep your room from looking too white (unless that is the look you want). I think it would look better not to have too much movement in the countertop since the porcelain carrara tile has lots of movement. I posted a picture earlier in this thread showing the Carrara look alike tile my daughter used in her bathroom. She opted for light gray cabinets and initially wanted a white countertop. She shopped remnants for her countertop and was not able to find something that didn't "look slightly off". She ended up using a black quartz that had some lighter speckles in it. She thought it looked better than a solid color. Perhaps you could find a grey with some flecks of dark grey, black or white in it. I've posted many pics of my daughter's bathroom on this forum but here's a few shots for you so you can see how contrasting colors work Since you probably don't want to go with black, maybe something like Silestones Ocean Jasper Or Moonstone Would work for you. Well if you're not trying to match it then you won't mind the fact that it doesn't look authentic. Although if he doesn't like the look of real marble I'm not sure why the look of knock-off marble works? At our tile store we saw tile called Bianco Carrara it is a porcelain. Another is called Virginia and it comes in 3x8 not 3x6, but again is a porcelain. There was also calacatta porcelain tile. The also have a city collection of made to look like marble tiles. Cathy-- no, this is the first time I've heard the term, but not the first time I've heard of the system. I just never knew what it was called. And if it's a short sale, it's probably a great deal. Bigtime short sale. For the condition it's in right now, the offer was for about 1/3 of the full value. To that, right off the bat, we'll be adding quite a bit of upgrades, including all new replacement windows throughout the house, a brand new heating system, and blown in insulation, which will only add to the value, making it an even better deal. We'll see. I still haven't heard from the bank yet, which means they didn't take it as a joke and refuse it right off. We'll see. As for the bathroom, I'm not sure what we're going to do. Personally, I'd prefer to do all new fixtures, and really fire it up. But my wife is another one who likes the vintage fixtures, so I may be overruled. :-) Gotta keep Momma happy!! One thing is for certain-- the tub will lose the showerhead, and a separate shower will be built.
