Even though the yellows you've referenced in your post are very pale maybe the reason you can't find what you're looking for is because yellow in general is one of the warmest colors there is and there's no such thing as a "cool" yellow. Could it be that what you're really looking for isn't a yellow at all, but maybe something more beige?

I agree with lukkiirish. Perhaps something like Restoration Hardware Latte would work. I also had difficulty looking for a neutral beige/yellow color. Many were too gold for my house. I chose Latte out of exasperation but like how it looks. It has more green undertones, which leads it to be less warm if that makes sense. I just used the leftover paint to repaint a room in my daughter's apartment. I was also impressed with the paint quality, which I was leary of after reading both positive and negative reviews. Nice finish and seems similar to BM Aura paint. It's the paint equivalent of BM Crisp Khaki if you want their paint.

I think what you are gravitating to, and calling a "cool" yellow, are the yellows with a green undertone. I'm also a big fan of the greenish yellows - I have greenmount silk in my house and also dunmore cream. How dark of a shade are you looking for? I had the greenmount silk mixed at 50% strength and it was very pretty (though still ended up being too yellow for what I wanted). If you like it, but it's too strong, you can always have it mixed at a lesser strength. To me Dunmore Cream reads as more of a tan than a yellow, but again it has a definite green undertone. It's also a very pretty color, but much darker on the wall than the greemount silk is.

That said, I ended up picking BM's Lancaster Whitewash for the majority of my house. On the chip it reads as a grayish off-white, but, at least in my house, it reads as a light greenish-grayish yellow. It's not a showstopper of a color (it's pretty bland, actually) but it's just what I needed to complement my cabinets and flooring, etc. (The cabinets, particularly, are the weirdest shade of gray-green and nothing looked right next to them until I discovered the lancaster whitewash.) You might want to test it out.

You definitely will want to stay away from the yellows with the red/brassy undertones -- that is what is making them read peachy. I tried a bunch of the Laura Ashley Pale Golds and they all ended up too peachy for my taste.

At the paint store, stand in front of the paint chips and look for the spot where the yellows meet the greens and the colors are grayed out (not screaming bright) -- that's probably where you'll want to be if you like Greenmount Silk.

Netsuke is very pretty - that strip of SW color is one of my favorites. Harmonic Tan, Muslin, Artifact.

Netsuke can look very green -- and that of course is dependent on the light. It is a *fuller* color than Greenmount and Swans Mill. Swans Mill is much yellower than Greenmount and Netsuke.

If you haven't already, maybe look at Norfolk Cream BenM 261.

Actually, there are instances where you can see the difference between warm yellows and cool yellows. That's because all hues can be moved toward its opposite. As a warm color is toned down and is moved closer to a neutral gray then it grows more cool -- or warm if you're starting with a cool color. Thinking of it in terms of a color wheel, moving a color closer to the center of the wheel and a neutral gray you are also moving it closer to the opposite side of the color wheel and thus closer to the opposite color temperature.

Color mixing 101 is not what's most important when it comes to choosing paint colors -- it can just confuse things and create unnecessary mental chaos. But relative to color temperature and this thread it is relevant. So...

You can choose to move a color closer to a neutral gray by using black/white/gray or by using its color complement(s) -- or maybe even a combo of a lil of both grays & complement. All depends. Adding black turns yellow green so many muted yellows will have a green undertone.

Course, that's all in theory until you do it. You can only *know* if a color is warm or cool when you see it in the light of the room surrounded by all your stuff. Because color temperature is not only theoretical but it is also contextual. Pretty cool, huh? lol! :~D
