Twin XL converted to California King bed, mattress
Comments (2)Sorry, but thought you should know that 2 twinXL actually make a king size. Just a FYI California king measures 6' X 85". Where as a king is 6'6" X 80". The measurement of a twin XL is 3'3" X 80". For the Adj. bases check out Restava.com web site they have adj. bases the would be easy to slide apart. Hope this has helped....See Morespare bedroom twin or daybed?
Comments (30)DancingQueen, If you like the one with circles, here is a similar one from Allbed, in metal instead of wood: I don't like the higher arm that the metal one has but it still has a different look than the typical daybed. I think the lower arms and back is what makes the West Elm daybed look so refreshing. Most daybeds being sold look like baby cribs: This one I imagined was Martha Stewart's prison cell - standard issue cot with pillows added to soften the harsh angles, probably embroidered with dental floss. The other popular style daybeds have is the barn animal feed bin look: And then of course the hospital exam table look: If the daybed will be used as a sofa more often than as a bed for sleeping try getting one that is not twin size, but rather a cot size. It will be more comfortable for seating and still double as a bed for an overnight guest, and not take up so much floor space in a tiny room. This Harry Probber cot sized daybed is not as deep as a twin size. This one here also is a cot size and make seating easier but the cool thing about it is that it opens to form a much larger bed: The bed I posted earlier a few posts back not only is a single size daybed but converts to a queens size sleeping arrangement OR two singles. Plenty of options for overnight guests....See MoreMaximize space: convert dining room to bedroom
Comments (34)If you don't want to actually wall off part of the living/dining space as a bedroom, then at least claim the entire wall between stairwell and exterior patio door wall for your "bedroom". Set your bed and your wardrobe and your chest of drawers against that wall. If you don't already have a twin bed for yourself, choose a quality metal twin bed frame with castors and without headboard of foot board -- one that, with appropriate pillows/bolsters, could pass as a day bed ... one that appears to be and could be used as seating; however, do NOT let anyone get in the habit of using it as seating or you'll end up with the side edge your mattress being worn and sagging in an uncomfortable way. (Aunt had this issue with her day bed when I was a child.) If you have any difficulty with physical activity, do not skimp on your mattress and box springs -- get the best of both and have the height of your bed be what you can use comfortably, such as swing your legs over the side and stand up rather than needing to climb up out of the bed. (Been there; done that -- too low is not good.) On a tight budget, consider checking with Habitat for Humanity Restore Store for good used wood furnishings -- wardrobe and chest of drawers -- and even the metal bed frame. Would not upholstered furnishings or mattress used. You might also try checking with other local charity sponsored thrift stores and/or used/antique/consignment stores....See More2 Full Beds in a Bedroom
Comments (28)Keep in mind that guests will have suitcases and need a place to open them and maybe bedside tables big enough to store clothes in. I don't leave my toothbrush in a bathroom, so they need room to place toiletries and things like that. My experience is that no more than two adults ever share a room, except maybe parents and older teens or young 20-somethings, when there is NO other option. Once people start to snore, only their life partner is willing to put up with that noise. Two adults (a couple) need a QUEEN size bed or two XL twins, together or with a table between them or separated. Two adults (friends) need two XL twin beds. I like the idea for one queen or two twin beds with the IKEA mattresses stored under. I love sleeping on a mattress on the floor because there is great support. And it can go back under the bed for more walking and dressing room during the day....See Morewooderlander
