Island Lighting using small 'foyer' light

We are about to build a new home and will have a 7' by 4' kitchen island. I really like this small foyer light that measures 10" by 14" and would probably put two over the island. Would love any thoughts on using this fixture. I'm not sure what the standards for size, etc are. In addition to these island pendants, we will have recessed all around and undercabinet lighting.

It would work for omni-directional lighting. Do you have other fixtures that will cast light down on the work area? If not then you may want to consider open bottom glass pendants.

The cabinets will be painted white, also installing subway tile, granite stays...so taking down the light box and replacing it with other lights, just don’t know what to put there since the island is so small.

It doesn't have to match necessarily. But keeping them in the same color family, or geometric style would help tie the two fixtures together.
