how does LED undercabinet lighting work with hard wires?
Comments (5)You will need a separate transformer at each location if you plan on connecting to the 120v hard lines. If possible, you can run the low voltage lines in the walls and eliminate the need for additional transformers. If you are still at a stage this is an option, it will save you a little bit of $$. Comments (1)You can either spend a lot of time (or money if you hire someone) minimizing drywall damage, or simply cut into the wall as needed to run wires. Drywall repair normally costs much less than elctrician's time, so the walls get cut into. A narrow strip of drywall allows holes to be bored at each stud and a new line pulled. If you use a rotozip type tool to cut out the strip of drywall it is not hard to simply put it back in the gap created and tape and mud it up....See MoreAre your under counter lights hard wired or not?
Comments (9)Gibby3000's solution is also mine. Most hardwired DIMMABLE but some individually controlled. Most are LED strands for task and up (ambiant). And then there's the temporary (12 years!) retrofit of an old cottage....its a cheapo daisy chain of under cab liting (you cant daisy chain but a small run) where you end up manually turning on in groups. I cant say it is that big of a hassle. Espec since sometimes i only want one light on or one section illuminated. The biggest criteria for us is always the quality of the light (meaning harsh color or warm) and NOT having anything catch in our eyes while seated. Along those lines, we installed some then-high-end flourescent thin tube task lites and they dont look "floresecent" in terms of quality of lite at all, but they dont dim and that is drawback. Hence the conversion to dimmable hardwired LED....See MoreUnder Cabinet Lights (non hard wire) and a Switch
Comments (3)I'm looking for other plug in systems that have a switch just like the above. The above is kind of mediocre and I would like to do some comparison with another product, which I'm having trouble finding. The switch above does not plug into an outlet. It can be mounted by screws or 3M tape and "talks" to the light units....See MoreRelated Professionals
