Hi, I'm reupholstering a sofa and loveseat so I went nuts looking for fabric stores online. I was leery about ordering fabrics online but after searching and talking to friends I found 2. They're both good sites for fabric. There's Newtoto.com They will send free swatches of fabric to you which is nice, but they do charge for shipping of any material you buy. The other site I found is Fabricguru.com They charge $1,00 per swatch, but their shipping on any amount of fabric is $4.95. Out of both of them Newtoto has the best customer service and faster shipping. Because I wasn't sure what color I wanted to do my sofas in, I just called them and asked that they send blue fabric upholstery swatches, and they did. Fabricguru won't do that. Newtoto also describes their fabric in more detail on their website which was very helpful. Both stores have 'remnants' sections and the remnants are cheaper. Good luck. Shee, Ha, I found out today, it will be at least another 6-8 weeks now before we get the sofa because it isn't expected to ship now till the mid part of August and then there's another couple of weeks for shipping & delivery time! I sure hope we have it before the holidays. LOL In regards to the chairs, I'm not willing to brush paint 4 chairs but we are seriously considering painting them with spray paint. (if DeeDee's idea doesn't work out) Deedee, You are brilliant! Thank you so much! I hadn't even thought of that but the owner of the store we got the cabinet from is a real character and he just loves to wheel and deal. He has a woman on staff who does all their painting and he once offered to refinish our dining room table for us. She uses a sprayer for all the base coats and seems to do a good job on other pieces I've seen. I don't see why he wouldn't be willing to work something out with me. Oh! Then they'd match the hutch! We're picking it up tomorrow morning, I'll ask him if he's in. Oh boy, I'm excited now, wouldn't that be great! Suero, That's a great price unfinished but buying them online means I'd have to paint them and I'm not really up for that. There were a couple of styles we were considering at our local naked furniture store. They had that same chair for something like 109.99 and they wanted 70 to stain it or 80.00 to paint it. Add tax and it was close to 200/chair, which was just more than our budget for the dining room would allow. Thank you for your help though, it was a good suggestion and I do appreciate it.

Thanks everyone. My thought was to bring in some color and pattern to what is currently all wood, wood tones and metal. I did think to add texture, but would a natural woven shade look boring? By the way, I am a girl. :) I love the rich color of the cabinets, but strengthening the masculine aspects of the room may not be what I want. I don't want a window treatment to look cheap or out of place, or country or frilly, but I would rather soften the formality than make it more formal. I like rich colors, but making it a little less traditional, giving it a little modern edge would be nice, but I also like to add some contrasting elements to keep it interesting and personal. I am certainly open to keeping it rich and clean lined, but I need to add some interest and contrast in some way. I picked a faucet that that is supposed to have an organic shape from nature, it looks like a nodding flower to me. I also picked it in shiny chrome to add a little shiny sparkle and break up the brushed nickel and stainless steel bit. The light fixtures I thought were also a little like flowers and might go with the faucet but I think now they just look sort of old fashioned. I may eventually change the knobs, but have no idea to what. I think glass would be very pretty but would play up the formality even more, and to be honest, this kitchen indulges my formal side, but my house is really not super formal. If I could add a little punch, a little color, even soft color, as well as texture, and make it a little less masculine and traditional at the same time, I would love that. I may be a hopeless cause, however. They had to talk me out of a mini pendant at the lighting store that was a small cube of crystals with a light in the center. :) LOL, I just found a piture of it: I will save that for somewhere else, though. I have no problem adding a crystal pendant over a country bed. :) Hmmm, maybe one over each night stand... Oops slapping myself upside to get back to the current task and stop daydreaming. If you have ANY specific recommendations please feel free. I may be wrong, but I am just afraid plain wood blinds would would be too much of the same thing. Whatever I go with, it has to be an inside mount because of the cabinet moldings that don't leave room for an outside mount in the top corners of the window. Photos are hard to get because of the glare, but here is a clearer picture of the window area. Annie, Coral is such a funny name. The Serena and Lily bedding is described as "coral" but IMHO it looks pretty orange, so who knows? I think coral is softer and leans more toward pink. My3dogs, You are a genius. I looked through several of the websites suggested, including 168 pages from InsideFabric (tough work being a dilettante decorator). Yet your little search yielded two good contenders. Thank you! (and local to boot, which i always prefer). Here are the ones I'm mulling over so far. If I chose the top left I would need to add some aqua somewhere. OTOH, that might be nice since there is so much aqua in the house.
