Anyone familar with Pergo Accolade?
Comments (4)I don't think I have time to order a sample, plus the place I want to buy it from doesn't have samples of this particular color. I just did a color comparison on the Pergo site with a similar colored floor that I did see. The Accolade Bleached Pine is the whiter of the two, so I think it may work for me. Just thought if someone had actually used or saw this they could give me a better idea. Thanks....See MoreAnyone have Pergo XP?
Comments (9)Yes, we have the Highland Hickory. I have it in my home office room. I have a chair with plastic wheels on it, and it hasn't made the slightest mark on the floor. My 70 pound Labrador has romped all over it and not a single mark on the floor. We dropped a 10 pound dumbbell on it as a test and it didn't even dent it. The 50 pound one did, but only when we hit it with the sharp edge of the weight. I had a scrap piece that I hit repeatedly with a hammer to tap in the flooring, and you'd never know it to look at that piece. The ONLY thing that made a mark on the floor was when I dropped a drywall saw pointy tip straight down on the floor, and even that was only a slight mark. You wouldn't see it if I didn't point it out to you. We love that room so much that we're going to do our whole house in it. It's awesome!!...See MoreHow do I keep kitchen Pergo floors looking great?
Comments (0)We installed Pergo oak floor in kitchen about two years ago with kitchen remodel. Have two pets with plenty of fur dust bunnies and sand tracked in from backyard (haven't been able to train the dog to wipe his feet yet, LOL). For those of you who have Pergo with animals, what do you use to clean floor? I use Swiffer sweeper to "vacuum" the floor then use Bona hardwood floor cleaner to "wash" the floor. But Swiffer is a big pain, wish I could use regular vacuum with beater brush and Bona really doesn't clean the floor, either with or without using a steam mop which I have also. Floor has lost its shine. Help! How do I get it looking shiny again and what's the best way to sweep it and then clean it? What really works?...See MoreAnyone have handscraped floors in their kitchen?
Comments (14)I don't think the stores have a clue what they are talking about when it comes to flooring. They recommend laminate and look how many people HATE their laminate in their kitchen compared to how many people hate their wood floor. I've only met one in the latter catagory. Plus, I found that once I made my choice (solid wood), the very same guy who was detering me from solid wood was suddenly endorsing it as being a fine choice. Another thing about not being able to sand and re-do handscrapped is that I think ANYTHING is possible if you want it bad enough. If it's solid wood, it should be able to be refinished, even if in the process it goes from handscraped to flat. Oh well - it will still be pretty. I would not hesitate to strap on a respirator and sand the floor myself and then bring in someone to apply the finish if the floors needed it bad enough and that's what I wanted to do. I don't care what they say. It's pesimistic, naysayer mindset to say you "can't" do something. Anything can be done. I think another aspect is expectation. You can't expect your wood floor to look exactly the same 6 years later as the day it's installed unless you are family with no kids and pets and no accidents of any nature who only wears socks and vaccuums up dirt a couple times a day. But that's the beauty of wood to me - even beat up, it still looks pretty good. Truthfully, our 12 yr old oak entry has some deep gouges in it, there are scratches everywhere, the finish is worn in areas, etc...and whenever I mention how terrible of shape our wood is in, nobody believes me. They say it looks great. I have to actually point out the gouges and even then they really don't see it. Now what looks terrible to me is linolium once it starts getting gouges in it. I have to mention that my mom has had site finished white oak for the last 16 years and it's worn with dents and stuff, but it still looks great....See Moremelefuzz
