Sorry for the pics. They're from when we first moved in and I was posting them for someone's color question about our great room (sorry, family room, lol...another thread).

Ours are Levolor cordless woven wood. We bought them from stardecorating.com and loved working with them. I had changed my mind about the color after I ordered and they got in touch with the manufacturer and got it changed. They were also the cheapest by far.

We liked them so much, we ordered another set to go where the temporary blinds are shown on my pic.

Levolor is great to work with, too. DH was having a blonde moment when he unpacked them and cut what he thought was packing cord. Turned out to be the cordless feature. He admitted fault and they said "no problem, send them back and we'll fix them for free".

Thanks, Parma! I did get an estimate from Lowes on the Levolor cordless Origami (Bamboo Essence: Color 81961). Is that by any chance the color you have? I like the color you have, and definetely like the cordless feature. If not, could you let me know what pattern that is you have? I do like it.

I looked it up and mine are in their Woven Wood collection.

Cordon Tan #82913. They are a bit more flexible than the straight bamboo and have lots of texture and shading to them.

Here's an example on the REALLY inexpensive end! I put these up a few years ago. They are from Bed Bath and Beyond and I think the style was called Nantucket. They don't filter the light too well during the day - but that's okay with me because I like the room to be bright. I'm actually pretty happy with them.

Also on the inexpensive side, Home Depot has some cut-to-fit (they cut in the store) woven wood roller shades with a cord loop. They do provide privacy and light filtering. I think they're about $25 each. I have some but don't have a good pic. If you want one I will try to get one tomorrow. They are a good budget option, especially if you need a custom width. I don't see them on their website, and not sure all stores carry them.

mcps, yours look great, too! I'll need to get the blackout lining on the shades that I purchase and I have window sizes that aren't available ready-made so it looks like (unfortunately) I'll have to go the custom-made route. Believe me, I tried! That's why I'm trying to make certain I don't make a mistake.

bungalow house, I'll check the Home Depot website and see if I can find a picture of what you mentioned. I knew they did that for the wood slat blinds, but didn't know they would cut woven wood shades to size. Thanks!

I could have written the original post! Anyone else have pictures of woven woods, especially on wide windows? We've got triple casements that are about 83" wide by 66" high, and I need to do SOMETHING in the LR,DR, and kitchen.

I don't know if this post is still active but I wouldn't put block out fabric on woven shades. I thought the whole idea of the woven woods was to let some light through. I got a light lining on mine because I face a hot Houston south. My neighbor faces east and has the bamboo unlined shades. So much more character.

I don't think the Home Depot shades are listed on their website. If you don't see them, it's worth a call to your local store to double-check.

I went to Home Depot today looking for the shade that they cut. They told me they don't have any they cut because they shatter.

Check JCPenney. I saw them there in various colors. They also custom cut. I think their prices are better than HD. I am also thinking of them for a bedroom.

This is the shade. I guess not all Home Depots carry it.

We have these, from Smith+Noble, with a blackout liner (these windows face due south). On the middle window we have the continuous loop and love that feature! I would've done it on the two flanking windows only they're too narrow to qualify for that feature (S+N only offers it for windows over a certain width).

I don't think I have a photo, but in our penultimate house we had a window just a hair under 11' wide, and there we also had a Smith+Noble woven roman shade with blackout liner and continuous loop, and S+N was able to make it as one shade (not two or three on a header).

But I just have to say I wish wish wish I'd found this site with all these incredible insights earlier, before I ever did any projects! Those cordless blinds sound fascinating ....

HOW do the cordless blinds work? Do you just pull down on the bottom of the shade (I have that type in our RV). Otherwise, I'm not grasping how they roll up/down. Thanks. :o)
