Hi, Oceanna. We have yellow tones downstairs, so I wanted to go more beigey to be both cooler and calm looking in summer and cozy at night, maybe with accents of green and brown and dark metals. Strangely, we have never in all these years done any beiges or browns, so I have no favorites to draw on. I've tried samples of some of the medium beiges, including yellowish ones, recommended on this site, but they just seem too dark and heavy (plus too pink, too gray, too green, etc.), so I thought I'd better move lighter. And ask for recommendations from people with experience because I suspect I may not be recognizing color(s) that would work well from the splotches on the wall.

The last two photos Nosoccermom posted above kind of illustrate why mid tone colors are better with darker wood. If you go with something light, the brown will just pop out. Better to include some lovely artwork or dishware that you want to pop instead. You can get away with using yellow and blue, just not really light yellow and blue. Also, I think the island painted a muted greyish blue would look cool, like those bottom two photos. I got this photo yesterday from the SW Michigan Land Conservancy of one of their refuges, which reminded me of your cabinets! It kinda shows how if you mix dark brown with other similar color tones, it doesn't pop out as much. So the dark colored tree line blends with all the other colors. I does have a tinge of lavender and blue. Not saying I would pick this exact color palette, it's just an example of how you can make brown pop out less.

I'm back...if you're still willing to help. If you'r sick of me, that's OK too. :) I just got off the phone with our painter, and he said I should use a creamer color due to the high winds in Aruba. Large amt of sands kick off the golf course. Whiter colors need more power washing...so I found two colors and I can't find much at all on the internet because I think they are newer SW colors! He did put Grecian Ivory up, but it was a bit light and not enough contrast with the trim. On the exterior the EAGLET BEIGE SW 7573 looked nice, yet I still don't know if it's too much yellow when painted on the entire house. He's painting a larger area for reference. Have you ever heard of ARRID SANDS HGSW3167? . OR if there is a better color that's a CREAMY/BEIGE with a hint of YELLOW undertone.I want to see more cream than beige. I have been looking for 2 weeks, and I can't seem to find the perfect color. I do like ALABASTER SW 7008 for the trim, PURE WHITE SW was too white. And, I like either TRICORN BLACK 6258 SW or URBANE BRONZE x 150 for the door. Any advice would be so appreciated!

The kitchen cabinet colors are near identical to the first picture at the link: https://www.hungelingdesign.com/blog/secret-recipe-for-creating-a-true-english-kitchen I am doing a Plain English style kitchen and like the cabinets in the picture at the link, if you place certain colors around it, it will appear more gray, but a whiter background makes the cabinet look more off-white cream with a hint of tan or brown. The reason I mentioned avoiding yellow was because my Benjamin Moore Navajo White has a creamy yellowish undertone (which I love) but when the cabinet sample was placed against it, it definitely adopted a stronger gray tone. So that's why I'm thinking I need to avoid a yellow tone paint but I also don't want stark white walls. I may be thinking in the wrong direction entirely.
