Whether these are good or not or worth the money depends on what you want to use them for. After viewing a couple LED grow lamps in action, they definitely have their applications. Most of the higher power models put off less heat than comparable powered MH/HPS bulbs and are more compact, allowing them to be placed closer to the plants. They focus most of their energy into the PA regions of the spectrum, making them more efficient for the amount of power being consumed. That being said, the next question is, in what application you want to do use them? If you compare the transmission of the LED light through multiple layers of foliage, you'll notice that most of the energy is stopped within one or two sets of leaves, where as with a comparable HID light, there will still be some light shining through after several layers. So if you're planning to grow herbs or lettuce/vegetative plants in a small footprint, the LED grow lights are great. Fruiting plants will grow and eventually produce fruit to some extent in almost any lighting condition; however, the quality will not be optimum if sufficient light is not provided. That is where using LEDs to supplement other light sources would be useful. Also, if you're relying on HID lights to augment the temperature in a colder area, the LEDs will not perform this function, requiring additional energy to be spent on heating. Not a concern for most people, but its something to consider when totalling the energy costs. Bottom line: The LED Grow Lights have their advantages in certain applications, but are far from being a cure-all alternative to HID. Alinka, great you got a deal on the trims. I would get the 60w LEDs. You can never have too much light. You can always dim the lights if they are too bright. Consider ordering a few bulbs to try first. I struggled with the beam spread too. How tall are your ceilings? If you have tall ceilings, use the narrow beam spread. I like the 2700 for normal house hold use but the 3000 I used outside. Consider ordering a few bulbs to try first. I ordered a few bulbs and used the bulb I did not like outside! Who are you buying from? I bought most of my Soraa from Lightology. You may want to call them to see if there is a discount on the large order. They also offered great advice. Will your lights be on dimmers? I forgot to ask if your current lights are line voltage or low voltage? This will make a difference in the Soraa bulbs you can use. For MR 16 bulbs you need an electronic dimmer. I use the Lutron Maestro and the switch was about $100 but it dims the LED lights to 10%. good luck!

ok let me really help you with this. use 4'' recessed low voltage cans. that take mr16 bulbs. these bulbs come in beam spreads from 10 degrees to 60 degrees. Use what I call a flop, rather than an eye ball, the flop can be more precisely angled at what it is lighting as . for the larger piece that is long you will want 2 cans to focus on that with two bulbs at tighter angles. the light will naturally spread as it gets further away from the source so this is why trying a couple beam spreads will help determine what works bes. https://noralighting.com/product/nl-470/ You do not want to over light, so sometimes this is trial and error with the bulbs. Now if for some reason you can not do recessed we are into using a rail system from tech lighting, with the same bulb i am talking about. Or if you want more options for the lighting. These use the same bulbs and can be moved around on the rail to get optimal placement.
