Does anyone have a Tolomeo lamp?

Has anyone had any experience with a "Tolomeo off-center suspension lamp"? It's manufactured by Artemide, and there are a couple of other styles (floor, wall) with similar construction, so I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on any of them.

We've got a large sunroom with a ceiling outlet box (hardwire), and we like to move the furniture around regularly. We had a hanging lamp at one point, but we were limited to locating the table under the fixture, or attaching the chain to a ceiling hook about 24 inches away, but that also raised the lamp higher, and we couldn't really move the table that far from the outlet.

This suspension lamp has a lot to like - totally adjustable, a long reach, and several shade options (I'm interested in the 17-inch parchment shade). I've seen the Tolomeo floor lamp in person at a Design Within Reach store, and it seems well crafted.

Since it's a bit pricey, I was just wondering if anyone has any hands-on experience with this product?

I always like to find out where objects come from.. it's really not a matter of value as I really do like the lamp. Of course it would be nice if it was some treasure sure.. but I don't really care. It's more that I haven't seen anyone else with a lamp like this before, and the weight of it alone is quite strange. Not that I go around scoping out lamps. It has some corrosion around the base that makes me think it was possibly set in marble or stone... you know really connected to a specific building. If that is the case a makers mark might help me find some history on where the lamp came from. Did some old courthouse get remodeled or demolished? How did this item go from being set in stone to being sold for the price of a fast food value meal in a dusty corner of some old thrift shop?

Sure, Build.com and other sites sell them. Found one in about two minutes. Here But they are not going to work for a sloped ceiling. No one probably makes one that swivels like you would need for that application. Heat in a radiant form, as in a light bulb heater, travels in a straight line and you will be heating whatever surface the ceiling pitch has the bulb pointing at. You need to build out a triangular box to put the fixture in. You can drywall it so that it is not as obvious as mine was. It is not a great picture, but in the upper left side of the photo you can see the maple triangular box that gives my light fixture a level surface to hang on.

Does anyone know anything about Mangani porcelain lamps?

Did you try Google? There are all sorts of styles of Mangiani lamps shown....and even a site showing the different lines of Mangiani lamps. From what I can find they began production in the 1950's.
