Decorating help with new bathroom remodel

Hi all,

We just redid the tile, tub and fixture in our late 1940's home. This is the hallway bath, which we did in black and white versus the yellow and black it was previously done in. Everything is in the same place as before, and we have tried to stay with the basic feel of how the bathroom was. I realize the fixtures (Kohler replicas) are older vintage style than our bath, but still trying to keep the vintage feel.

My question is the walls. We had thought about putting up a black and white toile wallpaper. Would this be to much? Right now the walls are painted a flat Behr light gray as I was anticipating wallpaper, but I'm rethinking that. Perhaps paint would be better, or maybe the wallpaper. I have no decorating sense at all, so I would appreciate ideas and opinions.

Here is my bath:

Here is a similar style bath with toile wallpaper that I like. It is someone else 1930 vintage bathroom in NewYork.

So paint or wallpaper? Color suggestions?
