That doesn't make sense...the feedback changes. I don't sell...keep saying I am going to start...but I have bought quite a bit.

My first reaction about the buyer feedback is that buyers will be able to leave the feedback they truely want to leave, without fear of retribution feedback. If a seller doesn't want to leave a positive feedback, then they just won't leave any. I'm assuming, tho, that there will be a counter to show that the buyer has won, say 15 auctions and they only have 12 feedbacks.

For those of you with 100% feedback for years, I'm sure you are proud of it. You've earned that, definitely. Personally I have one negative from 2002 that has haunted me all this time. I like that the negatives a seller can receive in retaliation will drop off after a year. Of course, earned negatives will also fall off, but I think a seller who is really bad will have ongoing negatives to still alert a buyer about being careful with whom they shop.

I'll sure look forward to reduced fees.

Well I liked it when I first read it but now I am not so sure...what does this mean for instance...adjusting Final Value Fees to lower your up-front cost to sell on eBay. ...so does that mean the final Value is going to be higher...that sucksI don't know whether I like it or not...I have 1oo % good feedback but are they screwing with the feedback to benefit the buyer?

I am extremely unhappy with the feedback change. I want to see the true feedback story for buyers as well as sellers.

The only recourse a seller would have when dealing with a bad buyer is to leave the positive feedback and then go back and leave a reply to the feedback stating the true facts. Of course, that's assuming eBay doesn't close that loophole.

I think feedback from over 12 months ago should still count; we've worked hard for it.

And now we'll have only 60 days rather than 90 to leave feedback.

As much as I have enjoyed selling on eBay, I'm considering throwing in the towel. There are too many ways for buyers to cheat sellers and eBay keeps making it easier for that to happen.

As a seller I like everything I see except that Buyers can only receive positive feedback. I don't think that's fair to a seller who's been stiffed by a non payer. I have to believe Ebay will have a hard time putting that one over.

Other than that, these all look to be positive changes.

I have to say as a buyer I have noticed a significant drop off in listings in the last year. It used to be that I could find all kinds of stuff on Ebay, but lately the offerings just aren't there. I know sellers were fed up with the fees, and it showed.

I like the idea that repeat customers will count for feedback on both the buyer and the seller.

Oops, that's as a BUYER I like everything I see. Duh!

Mona, I personally take a great deal of pride in my Buyer feedback being 100% since 1999 with over 500 transactions, so I appreciate what you are saying.

But I gotta be honest, as a buyer I rarely consider a seller's feedback past a year, especially if there's a negative on it. So many sellers hit rough patches, personal problems, learning curves. I'm mostly concerned with their behavior over the past year and whether or not it's consistent.

That's why I really like the idea of repeat customers counting. So many great sellers just don't get credit for keeping their customers happy and pleased with their products and service! Repeat customers are a valuable asset, they should get credit for cultivating that kind of loyalty.

I also like the idea that the Gallery is free. I know I just pass over listings that don't have gallery photos. Probably not fair to the seller, but I just don't have the time to click on vague listings without seeing the photo. I think this will be an advantage to those sellers who didn't want to pay the fee.

I hope this brings some life back to Ebay. It's been pretty dull for me this past year.

Ds doen't like it because of what is called the final value fees or whatever it is called. He was complaining about how it looks like you are going to save money but in the long run it will cost more.

I just can't see that eBay will get away with changing the feedback so that buyers can only receive positive feedback. There's got to be more to it than that. Maybe there will be a "buyer did not pay" option, or something similar.

And, I don't see how eBay can just wipe out sellers' feedback that is over 12 months old. The OP doesn't say that it will be wiped out, or removed -- it says it "won't count." I take that to mean that it won't be part of the equation when calculating a seller's percentage rating.

My feedback rating is 100%, but the "number that shows" is 369, when I actually have 593 total feedback. I've left 611 feedbacks for sellers and there are several sellers for whom I have never left feedback for various reasons.

At least, the changes certainly wouldn't make me act this way. I used to have a hard and fast rule that I wouldn't leave feedback for a seller until after the seller had left feedback for me. When I first started buying on eBay, one of the eBay feedback guides even said that sellers should leave feedback as soon as the buyer has paid, because the buyer has then completed their obligation. I always e-mail the seller when I receive an item, to let them know that I have received it. If they leave feedback for me, I always leave feedback for them. If they don't leave feedback for me, I will almost always still leave feedback for them. And, a couple of years ago I dropped my hard-and-fast rule and started leaving feedback for sellers even if they haven't left me feedback. Some still don't leave any feedback (which I just don't understand), but most do. And, there are some sellers for whom I just won't leave feedback because the experience was less than stellar, but I don't want to leave a negative, so just don't leave any.

What I wish for, as a buyer, would be for eBay to somehow monitor the shipping fees to weed out the ones who exhorbitantly jack up the price. I realize that sellers are allowed to add in "handling charges," but isn't it supposed to be REASONABLE handling charges? I can't tell ya how many times I've paid $8 or $9 for shipping, only to receive the item in an unpadded manilla envelope with less than $1.00 postage on it.

I sell mostly doll clothes and the final value is usually around the 10 to 20 mark so that means my final value is going up from 3.5 to 8.5...I'm wondering if the free pictures are going to make it worth it..

Now, that's funny. Because in my experience, it's been the Sellers who hold the Buyers hostage, by not leaving feedback when the Buyer completes his/her portion of the transaction ... namely, when they pay. I know not everyone agrees with the idea that a Buyer's obligation ends at that point, but it's how I see it.

After an auction closes, and I've notified the Seller my item has been received, I've had several Sellers respond by telling me to go leave them positive feedback in order to get ... or EARN ... positive feedback from them. In those cases, nobody ever gets feedback at all, because when I'm the Buyer, I refuse to leave first feedback.

So I'm really glad to see this portion of the change.

A Wall Street Journal article on the eBay fees said ...

"Beginning Feb. 20, eBay will discount fees to list products for sale by 25% to 50%."

"EBay also plans to increase the amount it collects when items sell because its merchants prefer that structure as it lowers their risk. The new pricing structure resembles that of Amazon.com Inc., which also allows third-party merchants to sell on its site."

I'll be glad to see that, because sometimes I list an item two or three times over a period of time before it actually sells. I know you get one re-listing for free, but sometimes that just isn't enough. Last fall I was selling football tickets for a friend at work, he was just wanting to recoup the cost of the tickets, but it took four attempts to sell some of them because the team wasn't doing well. So he paid me about $35 just in listing fees for all the tickets.
