I think that would look awesome! It would give so much presence to your fireplace, and it looks great with the style of your room.

The stone veneer looks beautiful and I agree that it looks like it would work well with your room. One thought: how will you end the veneer on the open left side of the fireplace? Just my opinion, but I think stone veneer looks best when it's difficult to see that it's veneer. I wonder if it will be difficult to find an appropriate ending point for the veneer on that wall.

Yeah that's the tough part. What makes it more difficult is I have rounded corners on my drywall. The seller of the stone says they just stop it just before the radius of the drywall corner and it looks good. I hope he's right...

Could you have some nice tim built that wraps around the corner so the edge won't show?

I have to disagree. I dont think this material is the best choice, because you have relatively little space left and right of the firebox. I think it may look odd.

I also think that the funny angle at the top of the wall will look odd when stone draws your eye to it.

To me, a material like this needs a pretty good expanse and very simple lines to look right, IMHO.

Also, I must say that I do think your fireplace is beautiful as is. I think adding some furniture such as two chairs facing each other with the fireplace in the center or perhaps a chaise lounge on the left could really highlight the fireplace and make it a wonderful corner for relaxing.

I think it would look good, but it looks good as it is, too. Either way, I don't think you could go wrong!

Suero's mock up looks good. I think that I would wrap the veneer around that little bit of wall to the left of the fireplace to make it look more substantial. I don't think that wood molding net to the stone helps.

That is awesome looking ledger panel! Where did you find it and who makes it? I've been hunting all over for something like that but all we seem to have in our area are browns, which won't go in our house.

Just a word of caution: stacked stone collects dust like crazy when used indoors. I also worry that it is going to look very dated in about two years.
